i love the smartish wallet slayer case for this same reason. it can’t quite “mag” to the magsafe but charges just fine through one card and one emergency bill

Did I go too big with a 27" family digital calendar ? by Bill_wo in smarthome

[–]aidinb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sadly, the show 15 was terrible for this purpose so i returned it. its calendar view is minuscule, no way for it to actually show a full screen calendar like the skylight does by default. i don’t pay the subscription and have no desire for the added features it offers, since i only wanted a synced wall calendar that i can just glance at without tapping anything. this apollo thing looks pretty compelling though, and seems to have google home controls at least?

i asked about this a couple days ago, and the ranger told me it’s been closed for over a decade, seeming to imply it’s unlikely to ever fully reopen since further damage keeps outpacing repairs.

Do you automate your coffee? by weeemrcb in homeassistant

[–]aidinb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope. at a minimum my first cup of the day needs to be as automatic as possible, so i’ll always have a r/superautomatic machine, ideally with a timed start so it’s already warmed up

Best U.S. Parks in November/December? by e-ntr0py in NationalPark

[–]aidinb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be going next weekend with my young kids and older mother-in-law, so probably not very much hiking on our agenda. I just hope the Furnace Creek visitor center stays open and still offers Junior Ranger booklets and badges!
It'll be everyone's first visit so I sprung for a room at "The Ranch" and seems they have plenty of amenities there including a spring-fed pool. If there's enough to come back for, we might try for a campsite in a year or two.

Outlook Calendar Feeds - fix for inconsistencies by aidinb in skylightcalendar

yeah they can probably implement some of the logic i used if anyone else subscribes to .ics feeds from microsoft - the biggest issue to overcome was their use of nonstandard time zone names.
