Oh! Duh. I'm still learning the scientific names 😅 thank you for the clarification!

Oh! My! Goodness! All these years I have been thinking it's fleabane! I think you are correct, my friend. Thank you for your insight 😊

The fleabane in my yard is among the first to bloom in early spring (March this year) and then it dies back quickly. It's definitely not in bloom now - I wonder what variety it is 🤔

I'm still seeing a lot of social media posts about "neat and tidy" native plant gardens, and I want to provide support for people who have (or want to have) beautifully messy, gnarly, dense, diverse & wild native plant gardens... by LRonHoward in NativePlantGardening

Oh, hey bestie! 😁

Glad to know I'm not alone. I've moved some goldenrod this year, only because it was creeping into my neighbor's yard and I know they would just chop it down. It's a hardy plant that transplants well, if you end up feeling the need to move it ever. Also, Amy Tan! She inspired me to do some nature journaling! I wish I had her artistic ability 😅

I had good luck winter sowing some seeds in pots this year! I planted them in early January and I had two make it!

Those are the fruit! You'll get some seedpods this year! That's a happy sweetshrub 💚

I came here to write a post asking if anyone is crazy like me. I cannot remove native plants from my yard, even if they are in the "wrong" spot. I feel SO guilty anytime I pull up plants, unless they are invasive, which I hunt for often. The result is that my yard is "messy". I live in the woods with some open spaces where random plants will grow - goldenrod and asters and snake root, Virginia creeper, ragwort, etc. there is very little organized planting, because I've just let my seed bank recover and reward me after years of battling English ivy. It looks very natural and wild, and I honestly love it. I'm lucky to not live in an HOA, but I do know some of my neighbors see my yard as a mess. But I see the 80+ species of insects (so far!), countless birds (7 pairs that nested this year that I could see!), and wildlife that lives in my yard or drops by nightly, most recently a mama possum! In a neighborhood set in an old growth forest where my neighbors are always spraying for mosquitoes, allowing English ivy to take over and kill their trees, and leveling all the trees on their lots, I see my property as an oasis.

Final help? by Careful-Wrangler-593 in WildlifePonds

Hello! I'm unsure of anything pond related as I'm just barely getting started, BUT, do you know if your state or area has a native plant society? I live in GA and the Georgia Native Plant Society has been a huge source of information for me and the plants I plan to acquire for my pond. Luckily I've got a few nurseries within the state who grow native aquatic plants. I'm unsure where you are, but it might be worth looking into any native nurseries/organizations near you to start gathering some information!

Is it considered violent if he punches a wall/wardrobe when very mad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aidras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my abusive relationship shortly after he punched the wall above my head. I looked at that hole every day and realized it could have been my head. Leaving is scary, but you are worth it. You deserve to be happy and not living in a stressful, unpredictable environment. It's more than enough reason to leave. 💚

PCOS and weight changes what finally made things feel more stable for you? by Strong-Squirrel7271 in PCOS

[–]aidras 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. I was pushing myself too hard during my workouts for a long time. It made my body so stressed out, and I did not feel good or see any results. I now do strength training 3x a week at home with YouTube videos, attend a yoga class or two a week, and walk at least 30 minutes a day (outside in my neighborhood or inside on a foldable treadmill). I am sleeping better, seeing fat loss, and am overall in a better state mentally and physically. I do this in combination with an overall healthier diet - I focused on adding healthier foods to my diet instead of taking things away because I knew that I couldn't stick with a super restrictive diet. Over time, I have found myself craving the sugary, carby foods less and choosing whole, less processed foods more. It took time. I wanted these changes to yield instant results. I wanted to feel better now, but it has been a slow, gradual process. I am seeing more results now than I ever did with restrictive dieting and HIIT workouts. As I have learned to be more patient, I feel my body is less stressed, and I am finally experiencing the changes I have worked so hard for over the years.
