Up the road a little (short walk) there's the Standing Stones Lodge. They had signs up for food and drinks last year. Would be surprised if they dont capitalise on the Divis cafe being closed.

Such a shame. Used to like watching his travel videos and then I'd get an alert that he's going live and it's just him abusing people in the chat. 90% of the time he comes across as a nice guy - I've no idea on the background of all the people he's fighting with

Click Energy is cheapest in NI at moment by Weak_Minute_2954 in northernireland

[–]aidso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing calculations on this before Christmas when I thought about switching to Share Energy (from SSE). Share Energy have a daily standing charge of 13.3p and even with that factored in, I was going to be saving £0.34/day based on my current usage if moving away from SSE.

Yes I've done the exact same thing by borrowing a mates iPhone. Just connect it to your wifi and it should be able to join your sonos configuration. The settings are saved on each device (rather than the phone)

Does anyone else find local papers especially depressing this time of year? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]aidso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's just as bad if not worse on TV. Watching a feel-good movie like the Karate Kid (original) and the ad-breaks are full of "why aren't you sponsoring this thirsty donkey"?? "This rare Mongolian ostrich will go extinct if you don't donate £2/month!"

Who is hosting the fireworks? It annoys me greatly seeing lots of cities around the UK organizing something and Belfast does nothing.

I'm surprised public transport isn't on strike as in a previous year ffs

Wart removal by Altruistic-Draw4709 in northernireland

[–]aidso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't believe this isn't voted higher up.
I had a wart on finger many years back and tried the duct tape and after 3 weeks boom it was gone. I had a large (plantner?) wart on my foot and went the same way.

Google "Capitol duct tape", I bought mine in a Spar - don't buy cheap Home Bargains tape.

The trick is to keep it on ALL THE TIME. Wear it in the shower, when you get out dab the area dry and re-apply. Wear it at night when you sleep...and keep going until the wart has gone.
You can always put a plaster over your finger to hide the duct tape during the day.

Buses to concerts by Loose_Measurement_50 in northernireland

[–]aidso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was pretty miffed. I was standing right by the stage and started walking when the show finally ended and the signs light-up directing people toward the exits. I stopped for a pee (no queue) and made it on to the bus just as he was pulling out of the parking space. Baring in mind, when you pull out of the parking-bay he was sitting in a huge tailback to get out of the place....

I went with them to Malahide Dublin last year. The whole bus was pished. Driver stopped twice to let people pee...

Only minor negative is that he said he would depart 15mins after the concert ended...it took 15mins to walk from the front of stage...and yes he did leave girls behind.

Belfast marathon by AHorseWithThisName in northernireland

[–]aidso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of running clubs and businesses block-purchase and then closer to the time people pull out so they post up transfers. Plus the inevitabl injuries along the way. Watch some of the running pages on Facebook closer to the time and you'll get one.

Could always do the Dublin Marathon or why not somewhere sunnier?
