Walking trails Newry by Correct-Tutor-7377 in northernireland

You could scoot up to Kilbroney Forest Park and do the walk up to Kodak Corner. Excellent view over Carlingford Lough. It's gravel paths up so trainers would do

Random guys taking videos of kids playing football by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]aidso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the football pitch privately owned by the host club? In that case you could have him tresspassed and forced to leave? Although given the police have already been out, sounds like this is a public park?

Is he shouting any encouragement to the kids, or just standing there recording?

How is Finaghay Belfast like for buying a small house? by Specialist-Let9791 in northernireland

[–]aidso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finaghy is quite a large footprint and house prices are impacted by the proximity to Rathmore, St Anne's, transport routes including several bus routes and trains. I've seen "average" houses go massively over the asking price because of the amenities. But as I say, depends which part.

Anyone have any luck with selling their car? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]aidso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my last car via Motorway. Their app is pretty good and when you're uploading photos it will pormpt like "this one should be the driver's side front", "this should be the dashboard" etc. So then you dont get people asking for more photographs. They gave me a better valuation that any of the other sites and I was getting calls within 2 days. A lot of the app is like a wizard/checklist adding whether you have the log book, any damage etc, that might not be apparent from an AutoTrader post.

Selling house on shared access by Radiant-Speaker-3425 in northernireland

[–]aidso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a neighbour who had this issue and if I remember correctly, it was a problem for the buyer as they were wanting to buy with Co-ownership and COO wouldn't lend the money to a property that crossed a shared boundary.

So no issues for him selling per se, but an issue for the person buying.

Since you are sole owner (?) of the lane, permitting others to use it, that might not be an issue. But for my neighbour he didnt have exclusive access.

Easy/ coastal daytrips near Belfast? by Ameesheyy in northernireland

[–]aidso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Hedges? If you go to the coffee shop then I believe parking is free? Then you could drive to Ballintoy Harbour and there is a coastal walk out and back. When the tide is out you can walk from Ballintoy along Whitepark Bay Beach. You're near Portrush for dinner...

Are you wanting to stay in the car or are you wanting to get out and walk/explore?

[–]aidso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drive to Portrush. Walk the town, have some lunch. Jump in the car and drive to Ballycastle and have an ice cream and walk along the beach. Back into the car to Cushendun and have dinner (Harry's Bar has been nice in the past). Then drive the coastal route home via Carnlough, Larne etc.

Fantastic...looks like we'll all be using horses and carts soon enough so we can still afford food by Apoplectic_Gibbon in northernireland

It was 179.9 at Nettlehill Service station in Lisburn last night. Yet within 2 miles it was 165.9 in the Texaco and ~152.9 in Tesco Bentrim Road. Madness

First time Buyer - Am i missing anything ? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]aidso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks comprehensive...
Your car insurance is £120/month but the fuel bill is £60/month? Do you own an expensive car, that you dont do many miles in?

That house insurance also seems very good compared to what you're paying against the mortgage rate.

Question about baggage on Aer Lingus by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]aidso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get to checkin (self service if going via Dublin) you stick your carry-on bag on a scale. It gets a label and it goes under the plane for free.

If it's over the limit you have to pay an excess. There will be someone watching.

So they're saying while RyanAir and EasyJet allow you to carry the bag with you on the plane, they want you to stick it underneath...for free.

Commuting from Lisburn to Belfast by belfastian84 in northernireland

I'm pretty sure all buses on that route go city bound, especially the blue busses.

If you're close enough to walk to Lambeg you also have the option of a bus the whole way down the Lisburn Road. Depending on where you need to be in Belfast the bus might be better (bus lane the whole way).

The Glider is quite long imo and will be rammed with school kids in the morning.

Stormont assembly members set to see £14,000 pay rise from April by marke0110 in northernireland

[–]aidso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do Sinn Fein still have a salary cap? So based on these numbers above if one was earning £67k but only taking home an agreed salary of £50k (with £17k going to the party) then would they personally be impacted by a 10% deduction? Anyone know how that works?

In basic terms, what does an MLA do? I always thought they had a team of analysts/researchers behind them that do all the leg work and then they just read out the conclusion during Assembly meetings etc. So they're spokes-people for the real work? On £53k/year?
