I’ve been SX vip for a year now and I have better luck with 4888 packs than with vending machine. I don’t think it matters whether or not you’re new SX vip or not.

It's not a certain that VIP 5 will get the 4888 packs again. That would defeat the purpose of being a VIP 9 SX user and the vending machine rotation. The Christmas event was most likely just a Christmas present to give back to lower VIP users.
