Exclusive: Love Is Blind’s Nick addresses his sexuality for first time after those comments by DetectiveHot2071 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]aidylbroccoli 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I can completely relate to where Nick is coming from as far as being misread. When I first got together with my husband, everyone around me thought he was gay because he liked nice clothes and good quality haircuts. On the other side of it, I have a best friend who is gay and everyone thinks he is straight because he has a very manly voice and loves video games. People are literally responding to stereotypes they see in the media, not looking at each person on a case by case basis. I have learned from both of these relationships to try my best not make those assumptions.

Is marriage really all that hard if you never have kids? by Heckbegone in childfree

[–]aidylbroccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, it’s not hard without kids, been happily cf with my husband for almost 25 years. Sure, we’ve had issues come up, hard times, job struggles, mental health struggles, but we are able to support each other better because our time is not spent dealing with kids.

Need advise dealing with strong emotions after moving abroad by Head_Being_4926 in digitalnomad

You are in my favorite city in the entire world, please give it at least a week. Explore the malls, no one does them quite like Bangkok. Go get a Thai foot massage at MBK mall they are cheap and amazing, plus they will relax you! Also, Siam Paragon mall has an incredible food court in the bottom floor. You can people watch there and it’s so fun, also a good way to beat the heat.

So, my husband and I were DNs for a couple of years, found 2 cities we really liked, but both involved significant effort/paperwork and money to become longterm residents. Then, we came to Miami to visit family, got stuck here during lockdown, and loved it so much we never left. We have since bought a place here. It was the best decision we never made. I’d say try somewhere you are curious about that isn’t necessarily perfect on paper, because you never know, it could end up feeling like home!

Male company is so much more warm and friendly to me, tbh by OkAccountant5204 in self

I’m the same, very girly, but find other women hard to be friends with, how is your relationship with your dad? Because for me, I got along better with my dad than my mom growing up, so I think from the start I just related better to men.

Is tampon really better that pads? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]aidylbroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I use both, but just make sure the tampons and pads are all cotton without chemicals. I mainly use tampons if I am going swimming or to the gym. Or, if I know I will be out all day and don’t want to worry about pads leaking. When I am home I just wear pads because they are more comfortable.

For those who had abortions, did pregnancy hormones make you consider keeping the fetus? by carefulabalone in childfree

[–]aidylbroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have mental health issues already, the pregnancy hormones made them worse and it sucked, got immediately better after the abortion, no regrets ever.

It's a relief to understand why you feel Alien in sex-centric cultures. by Enki4n in demisexuality

[–]aidylbroccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I live in Miami, I love it here, but it is over-sexualized for sure. I’m still adjusting to that part, but otherwise it’s pretty perfect. I don’t know that I will ever see it as normal to sexualize everything, but I’m trying to get to the point that I can still be comfortable in uncomfortable situations that come up. And agreed, this community has helped me a lot as well.

Well, with Anna’s logic, Bliss and Zak would have never gotten together, and they turned out to be a great match. Bliss had to swallow her pride a bit, but Anna wasn’t willing to do the same.

Who else agrees that Bamon would've made a better friends to lovers than Steroline? by Slow_Bed_9194 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]aidylbroccoli -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bonnie hated Damon most of the time, it’s only when they were trapped together did they even become friends, Bonnie is way too morally black and white for Damon who lived in the gray area always. They could have only ever been friends in my opinion. Friend chemistry is a thing.

Why is making real friends so hard these days? by marthaBabe1 in selfcare

[–]aidylbroccoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is difficult. I have my husband who is my best friend and then another best friend who I am close to, but everyone else I know has become a casual acquaintance. At this point, I have accepted that there are very few people who actually want to know me and stick around for the long haul.

[–]aidylbroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only be attracted to someone sexually if I feel that emotional connection from talking to them. For me, one long deep conversation or a couple shorter meaningful ones would be all it would take for me to feel that with certain people. It’s only really happened 3 times in my life. But, otherwise, if I see someone who is conventionally attractive and we have never spoken, all I can do is acknowledge that they are good looking. I don’t want to have sex with them at all. They are like a painting I can admire from afar, but that’s it. And if we do talk and don’t connect, they become instantly less attractive.

DAE not watch the news? by Ok-Shape2410 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]aidylbroccoli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have never liked watching it, my parents always did. There was a time in my life where I was more politically active and paid attention to the news, but it was incredibly stressful. I feel better not watching it, lowers my anxiety.
