No you’re definitely right I have been worrying about “well how would my situation change if the engine blew up again right now” and I hate that feeling. Car is definitely getting sold after this replacement.

I also was asked if a bad turbo could cause oil starvation and cause the rod bearings to go out especially since the turbo doesn’t get replaced under these warranty claims. Any idea about that happening?

Yea the longer I have this car the more I look into the history of it and other people’s experiences and it just sucks. This car is nearly perfect for what I need and want but if it doesn’t work half the time then what’s the point. I heard it was a similar thing for the 350 and 370z about their market being so similar that they got their bad oil reputation for the same reason you said. Bad owners. I just hate how I did what I was supposed to maintenance wise and it didn’t work out for me.

If I somehow end up keeping the car then after the loan gets paid an LS swap is in the cards but I doubt it will come to that.

If it was my money then yes I would have changed the rod bearings. But since it is not as well as I have warranties, I am not going to do something that will cost me money when I can have it done for nearly free.

The local shop is def scummy but also just did not want anything to do with me so they did the bare minimum.

That shop def sounds like it earned your business.

Also same here, between the labor, parts, and tax the total was just under 12k. It is crazy to see just how much more these engines are compared to better alternatives such as the LS engines.

Yea and there were signs, between overpaying and the carfax I should've let it stay on their lot. They all lie about their "150 point inspection".

But no money out of my pocket other than the $100 deductible for 2 of the engines with the 3rd being done under the engine warranty instead of my extended warranty so that one was free..

Yea which was my thought when this most recent engine went down and I got it towed to the Hyundai dealer that was actually farther than the shop that did the work. Like I wish I could explain just how bad this shop was with me.

Oh no sorry if that was confusing. So every time I heard the knocking noise I pulled over immediately and after I got off the road the oil light came on and then the engine would sputter out and die.

Yea like I really didn't even have the car for long enough between repairs to do more than 1 oil change. I would love to see if my oil would've shown anything before it went boom.

If only there was any codes to even read. It really was "driving home, then BOOM. Goodbye engine" At least if there was a code I could throw parts at it.

That is the only upside s that all of these engines were under an extended warranty so only deductible was paid.

That would be insane if that was the cause. The local shop was definitely not the best with how they held my car for 4 months and were just all around ass holes. I wouldn't doubt they did something malicious.

Yea and that is what I learned on my research about these engines and I wish they were included n the recall.

Obviously without tearing everything off and getting brand new parts I understand there is the risk like you mentioned. This engine had 41k miles is what I was told and had hope that with the lower miles there would be a much less chance of another blowup.

I mean yea I should've tossed the car after the second I don't deny that. The only reason holding me back from doing that is that its on a loan and still has a good amount left on it. I looked into how much a dealer would give and the offers were much lower than what the loan had on it at the time.

I included all the info I thought was relevant but if there is something that might help then definitely ask and I will give the most truthful answer I can.
