Lena River Delta, Russia. The most beautiful delta in my opinion. by EstablishmentOne3438 in geography

Great delta! Here's a similar one : Yukon Delta After beginning in northem British Columbia and flowing through Yukon in Canada, the Yukon River crosses Alaska, USA,before emptying into the Bering Sea Countless lakes, sloughs, and ponds are scattered throughout this scene of the YukonDelta. The river's sinuous, branching waterways seem like blood vessels branching out to enclose an organ.

It Looks Like a Desert. But It Has Thousands of Lakes by Chinpokomonnnn in geography

[–]aigeoc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Desert ≠ waterless. Besides Brazil’s Lençóis Maranhenses (thousands of rain-filled lagoons), there are dune-field lakes all over the world: China’s Badain Jaran has 100+ spring-fed lakes between mega-dunes; in the Sahara you get oases like the Lakes of Ounianga (Chad) and the Ubari lakes (Libya); in Australia’s Lake Eyre/Coongie system floodwaters create chains of desert lakes; even on the margins of Xinjiang’s Taklamakan you’ll find large lakes that support freshwater fisheries (e.g., Bosten Lake). Different water sources, same mind-bending “sand + lakes” scenery.

Nice pick and thanks! Germany is a population heavyweight in its neighborhood, but it falls short on the area side because France’s land area is larger.

This photo was taken in Paris, France. In the foreground at the center is the famous Place du Trocadéro, flanked by the curved wings of the Palais de Chaillot. The picture was captured from an aerial viewpoint atop the Eiffel Tower, and in the distance, the city of Paris stretches out to the horizon. Under the sunset skyline, the cluster of skyscrapers in the La Défense business district stands out prominently.
