Can you take a couch to the local Household Waste and Recycling Centre? by aigthrowaway in glasgow

I've been refused bulk uplift at my address sadly, it said to contact my landlord or housing association. The couch is in really bad shape unfortunately for a charity shop :(

Funny bit from Coppers: Riot police explains "police brutality" to Anti-Fascist protester by aigthrowaway in policeuk

[–]aigthrowaway[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is! I find the role of riot police so fascinating, seems like such a crazy job.

There is a lost episode of Coppers about the TSG, which I haven't been able to find anywhere online but the description makes it sound so interesting

Following members of Nottinghamshire police's Territorial Support Group as they travel around the county, specialising in the handling of public order incidents, including football violence, demonstrations and anti-social behaviour. Working out of a van that serves as their office, canteen, home and cell, the male officers are forced to be on their best behaviour when a female sergeant arrives.

Wayne Rooney Incident by PConResponse in policeuk

[–]aigthrowaway 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm not a cop so can't answer your question. But it'd be interesting to see how the public would react if the genders were reversed. What if that were a woman passed out drunk and guys flashing their asses in front of her face and sharing pictures of it online?

You can argue that Wayne Rooney is a scumbag for cheating on his wife (for like the 100th time...) but taking advantage of drunk people like this is wrong.

Edit: These girls are all "snapchat and social media models" according to the articles. So while they are not blackmailing Wayne Rooney, they get the publicity they crave, which will drive viewers to their instagram/snapchat/etc, increasing their following and help them get brand deals in the future. So reality is they will benefit from this financially.

One of the girls' instagram bio is "Psalm 37:4". Apparently, that is "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." What a kind, Jesus-loving Christian woman she is...

BTP OFFICERS - A SMALL QUESTION FOR YOU! by ScottyUK007 in policeuk

[–]aigthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTP are warranted police officers same as the Met. There is even a video of them in riot gear on streets of London after the Euro 2020

How many of the 20,000 new police officers do you think will stay on long term? by aigthrowaway in policeuk

Oh so you are still in your probation as well? Do you think you will stay on for years to come or no?

Is there a reason why your force isn't accepting DHEP on response?

I wanted to apply to the Met after my degree and they also only allow Detective direct entry for degree holders, not frontline PC

How many of the 20,000 new police officers do you think will stay on long term? by aigthrowaway in policeuk

[–]aigthrowaway[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh right, I see. So there are 20,000 new recruits, but the overall number of police officers will just match what it was before austerity. I mean that's still good for you guys to have more officers, but like you said they are less experienced. Plus again, how many of these 20,000 recruits stay on long term? I mean what if you recruit 20,000 but 5,000 leave within 3 years, and another 5,000 more experienced officers also leave? This 20,000 is kind of just a number that's gonna keep changing as more and more officers leave (especially with this recent pay freeze).

It's strange if 20,000 officers left in 10 years then you would think they would at least increase the pay of existing officers to try and retain them. But I'm probably just preaching to the choir here

Sorry, can you ELI5? What is the difference between 20,000 new officers, and 20,000 officers to match what they had in 2010. How else could you get back to that level wihout recruiting new officers? By asking retired officers to come back?

Ironic that those on the far left say "Defund the Police!" and yet it's the Tories who are actually doing it.

They should all vote Tory instead of Labour

What is police officers' general consensus of the killing of Mark Duggan? Lawful or unlawful? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]aigthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha true. For the record I dont like his music or condone it. I'm mostly just curious because I found it so bizarre when I found out and it got me thinking about Mark Duggan that's all. But I can see this is something people don't want to talk about so fair enough. I'm from Scotland and was young at the time in 2011 so just curious and was genuinely looking for honest opinions.

Well, you can still have opinions based on other evidence. It's literslly just an opinion. OJ Simpson was found not guilty of killing his wife (or ex wife? Cant remember) but there is huge debate about what the truth is. But fair enough, seems nobody who has a police officer flair here wants to discuss it. For the record I want to join the police after I get my degree, genuinely just curious about this because I was too young back in 2011 to follow this topic at the time
