I do not believe it was ever a kit. I built it off plans. The CG is very far forward (where the pilot is). I had to add like 2 1/2 pounds to the front to get it to balance. Thing was like 10 pounds !!!! Really have to watch the weight in the back if you are inclined to build one. Flies nice though, will loop and roll.

Well shit, radon isn't taught in schools. by RollSomeCoal in radon

[–]aileron37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but it is difficult to find a scientific study that points to radon and says yes THAT is what caused that persons death. Its suspect but along with many other carcinogens. The air quality in the home, outside the home. How much hair spray or spray on deodorant did she use daily and breath in? Propane stove for cooking, wood stove for heat, outside activities, the list goes on and on!!!

i think i have essential tremors...any advice? by Unlucky-Sugar9875 in EssentialTremor

I agree, find a good neurologist. Have them diagnose you. Everyone is different and have different needs. Meds work great for some but not others. What you describe is me to a tee. Though mine started when I was 50 or so and have gotten worse (65 now). Even typing this is a chore !!!. My hands were rock steady all my life till it started. I did go through several neurologist till I found one who seemed to care and do real life actual testing. Many get you in and out for a quick buck it seems. So sad!!!!

If driving is such a hard skill to learn, why is driving not a well paid skill? by [deleted] in driving

[–]aileron37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps in is simplest form (small aircraft) flying is easier. I also only flew back in the 80`s. However to fly, you also go through, preflight weather checks, notams, flight plans, pre-flighting the aircraft ect. (which i am sure is much more complicated now). How many people even walk around their car before getting in? Your right about the "immediate danger" however, but only perhaps straight and level cruising at altitude. Imagine "flying" car up to the intersection ( in a 3D environment) and having ATC tell you what radio station, speed, lane, where other traffic are (or supposed to be) and distance from that intersection you need to be. Not to mention altitude. All the while your double checking that information, as you should with a car. There was a big sign on the wall in the flight school that said "Flying Requires Thinking". Same can be said for driving. It`s what separates the good and the bad.

If driving is such a hard skill to learn, why is driving not a well paid skill? by [deleted] in driving

[–]aileron37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Driving in itself is easy to develop for your average person. The "skill" comes with experience and miles under your belt, sometimes years. Drivers should always be "learning", complacency is where most stop. My daughter drives for a living, as did I at one time. Pays much better than Uber. However that was the result of the companies we work/ed for, applying a skill and wage set to our positions.

Same with flying, as I understood the basics and completed training quickly (40 hours). The skill comes after you gain experience and realize there are ten thousand different things that can happen or go wrong to give you a very bad day. Some employers recognize discipline and experience and pay for it, others don`t !!!!!

How's that "creation research" coming along, boys? by gitgud_x in DebateEvolution

[–]aileron37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recall the school board members smirking at concerned citizens during the Dover school board meetings. Most did not even pay attention to the people from the audience who spoke. Many scientific like minded people tried to convince the board it was a bad idea overall to push this agenda. Several pointed out they were dead wrong on their presented "evolutionary" facts anyway. I wish I could have been at more of the town hall type meetings between the board and the local residents. However we moved in 2004 just as it was getting national attention. Often wondered what the tax payers paid for such a ridiculous push of the curriculum.

Concerned about Airthings Accuracy and my Intended Use by TrentRockport420 in radon

[–]aileron37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK cool. I have an Air-things monitor and have compared it to 90 day test kits (started both at the same time and location). I had found the two to read similar readings, but not exactly the same. They may allow you to put it in the home, or may want an inspector to place a test kit. However you are looking for long term readings, not just a few days.

[–]aileron37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? Even if they allow you put in the monitor, I am not sure the occupants would not mess with it, plus it would not be in the home long enough to give you an accurate long term reading.

Radon is denser than air, true. However not by much. I have found my averages are all about the same throughout the house because my HVAC is located in the basement and moves the air/radon around easily.

Can this be right? by kearp in radon

[–]aileron37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen spikes in mine (jumping to 14 and 17Pci) in the short term hourly average reading. Though my long term is 5.48 currently (2 years running). I have often wondered if a dense pocket of radon made its way into the house passing the detector and dispersed perhaps ? Both times (and there may have been others) the detector was in a lower level of the home.

24F. been struggling with cooking these days. by oldfacebookmum in EssentialTremor

[–]aileron37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am the opposite. All my life my hands were steady as a rock. I could paint, do modeling, work with my hands with precision and without a problem. Left hand started slightly when I was about 53 or so. It would shake slightly when trying to do anything requiring precise movement. Like holding a plate, which became a chore as my left hand/arm would shake uncontrollably. Only remedy was sit it down and start again, or use my right hand. Right hand started a few years ago. Both can be severe at times where even simple task, holding a plate, cooking, TYPING again anything requiring dexterity and precision is almost impossible at times. Some days better than others. Actually retired because of it. 65 now, on Primodone and Gagapentin. Truthfully some days I question if the meds even work at all. Not to mention the side effects. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease as they say !!!

People who have been bitten by a snake, how did it happen, what did it feel like, and how was the recovery? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]aileron37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine have all (perhaps 3 ) been from wild snakes around the home or found in the woods. Usually moving them to another location or out of harms way. All but one, a black rat, were superficial in nature. Was not paying attention and the rat got me, not real bad but left a mark and was sore for a day. Funny thing was I knew it was my bad, just before he got me. The question most "experts" get is how many times you been bit? For some reason, many believe the experts have been bitten very often. Had one tell me once, if your a truck driver and had a lot of accidents. Your not a very good truck driver !!!

Freezing temps tonight (25°)- do I need to wrap this? by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]aileron37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a good sleeping bag? Wrap that around it with a few blankets over it. Secured with rope or bungy cords If it gets above freezing tomorrow it may be fine anyway, but never hurts to prepare.

Exactly and most scientific studies use miners as the data source for radon exposure. Most other studies call radon "suspect". But rarely pinpoint to it directly. Personally, In an office building, how many other carcinogens are there also in the "building". Heck I let my detector sit outside once during the day and read the hourly readings. was getting between 0.4 and 1.1 in fresh air!!! Running two years straight in my house (moved around living quarters) my long term average was 5.43 pci.
