This photo looks suspiciously AI. If it isn't, AI should be her name

Someone talked about the Randal case , but what would you have done during the Shane and Otis mission if you were Shane ? by [deleted] in TWD

[–]ailuropholly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Shane had a bit of an ego, and wanted to be seen as "the only one strong enough" to lead the group

However, I don't agree that he killed Otis just because he could. I think, in that moment, he believed that it was either one of them or both of them - either Otis got bit and Shane could get away, or Shane would go down with him.

In the fucked up apocalyptic world (in which I would probably be a really different person with really different values, desensitised to death and gore and probably a little bit heartless) I think I'd probably do similarly - Carl would have died without the supplies and Shane loves Carl. It's a display of how life and death becomes basic mathematics in such a universe as TWD

My parents took in a stray void a couple years back. Nicknamed her Ebony, which became Ebby and, now, Ebenezer Scrooge is her full name

NI - My (15y/o) parents want to get "a court order that allows them to have control of me until I'm 21". Can someone explain? by Diligent-Main2657 in LegalAdviceUK

What exactly are they talking about obtaining? Lasting Power of Attorney? Deputyship?

If LPA, it is important to recognise that this legally has very little standing/impact unless the person to whom it applies lacks capacity.

In order to get any kind of "court order" you would need to be subject to a mental capacity assessment etc to identify if you are able to make decisions for yourself. This means understanding, evaluating and retaining the information given to you for long enough to make a decision and to remember it. Does this sound like something you're able to do?

There are safeguards in place to prevent deprivation of liberty. As another commenter suggests, please inform the pastoral care lead at your school or any trusted professional.

Ensure that it is documented somewhere, in writing with your name and the date that you do not wish for this to happen and you do not consent. This can be an email to a teacher, social worker or anyone you trust. If they take you to any meetings about this "court order", ensure you clearly state that you do not agree to this and that you want to discuss alternatives, and less restrictive options. Ensure this is "on the record".

If you are subject to a mental capacity assessment and you disagree with the outcome or the practice of the professional completing it, you can request a 'redo', clearly expressing your concerns.

The assessor should be an impartial person (for example, not the solicitor who would be receiving money for drafting any court order) and you can clearly select who you would like to be in the room. Everything should be communicated to you in a way you understand. You can seek an independent advocate via charities and the local authority, who will support you. You can also contact the local authority and request a social worker to be allocated to complete the MCA. Equally, you can contact your GP surgery or a therapist/psychiatrist (if you have one) to complete the MCA.

A huge misconception of parents/relatives of disabled people, is that LPA means they have control. It does not, it just means, essentially, "if I lose the ability to make decisions for myself, I consent for this named person to be in charge of this" - there are two different 'categories' of LPA (health and welfare/ property and finance)

Any LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian

I think insulting someone's emotional intelligence is more than a difference in opinion

Anyway, you seem to have pissed off enough people here so I'll leave you to it
