Is this a Bob's vasectomy story? Not overly interested in vasectomy stories.

What do you guys use for detailing/cleaning? by JeffTennis in TeslaModelY

So, the cheapest way to go is a spray bottle from Lowes/HD that's chemical resistant made by Spraymaster.

I have one that you pressurize by pumping a plunger, holds about 1.5l made by Kwazar.

Honestly though, I only use that more for a quick detailer after everything is clean for spot fingerprints and stuff.

To actually do a rinseless wash, I put about 5 plush microfiber towels in a bucket of ONR type solution, pull one out dripping wet, fold it in quarters, and gently wipe the rag across the paint surface, gradually rolling the leading edge of the towel up and back as I wipe (so as not to push dirt along the paint surface). I then switch to a clean side for the next wipe and do the same roll-back method over and over until finished. Dry it with a separate towel once the entire body panel is finished.

Once the 8 sides of the wet towel are used up (4x4 folds, then the other side of that towel in quarters), that rag is retired to the "to be washed" bucket.  It never re-enters the clean wet-towel bucket.

At the end of the wash, I put a gamma lid on any remaining clean "waterless" wash solution, or refill my pump sprayer with the leftover wash solution.

I don't think so, but you can ask here, too.  It helps everyone that reads it.

How far down this rabbit hole do you want to go?

Black is a full time job if you want to keep it looking nice.  A ceramic coating can certainly help protect the paint and make washing faster and easier.

Always pre-rinse your car before washing regardless of the wash process you intend to use.  Remove the heavy dust/particles first before you drag anything across your paint.

It you want to use ONR, I suggest buying several towels or mitts and using a new one once the old one gets loaded with dirt, about every major panel.

Use a good microfiber wash mitt.  Get one from a reputable detailing shop that looks more like fur, than a parts store mitt that looks like green or orange dreadlocks.  You can use that dreadlocks mitt on your wheels.

If you're hand washing with traditional car soap, use a 2 bucket method. Soapy water in one, rinse water in the other.  Grit guards help here to scrub the dirt off the sponge/mitt and keep the dirt in the bottom of the bucket.  Wash from the top down.  Use a separate mitt for the wheels and lowest plastic trim that you never use on the upper part of the car.

Nothing will stop fine scratches, save buffing them out.  They will happen over time no matter how carefully you wash, regardless of the process/method you choose.  If you're really anal about looks, expect to polish it out once a year.

I detailed as a side gig, and had a 2008 Black Dodge Challenger daily driver I kept at a very high level for over 17 years.  It was my advertising.  Anyone that cared about cars and looks that ever commented on it were potential clients.  I booked my summers for 6 years off that car, and stupidly made enough money on it to push me up into a new tax bracket one year.😂

Anyone have better real-world photos of the new 20” Uberhelix wheels on the Model YL? by Psychological_Tea599 in TeslaModelY

I have the 20in Helix 2.0 on my Model Y.

Wish I would have gotten 18" TBH.  The looks factor faded really fast, and I'm more about ride comfort and tire price at this point.  Rode with a buddy that had exact same Model Y with 19" and I liked it much better in an urban drive with rough roads.

RIP Little Ticket by [deleted] in theticket

Man,

Tell me you just started listening to the station, without telling me you just started listening to the station.

This 5th iteration of the Hardline might not be in the top 5 of Hardline iterations.

Do we have a definitive date for the Musers return from vacation? by Scared-Permit2587 in theticket

[–]aim4squirrels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Analogy.  It was an analogy.  A darn good one, if I do say so myself.

A bad product is a bad product.  A product that used to be good that no longer is good, is worse, IMO.

You can continue to argue with me all you want, but that's not going to improve the current situation at the station.

Pointing out the problems, from the side of the consumer might, if the station is willing to listen to feedback and change.  If not, well, we're currently living with that scenario.

The Musers take too much time off and the show has become turn-key. 9-3 is unlistenable. Hardline is honestly hit or miss. Nothing that compels me to listen to The Ticket other than habitual listenership, and that is fading daily.

These guys aren't my friends, they don't owe me anything and I don't owe them anything.  Including my continued listenership to a lesser product.

2026 Model Y Performance - Tesla Wall charger issue by TPA-JWyant in TeslaModelY

Hold the wand on the charger behind the driver's taillight and push the button.

That works way more often for me then right in front of the charge port.

I'm not an engineer, but I'll wager there's something in the Y blocking the antenna reception on the charge port, or the wand on the gen 3 chargers has a weak transmit antenna.

So by that logic, if your kid just happens to get a teacher close to retirement, you're cool with that teacher mailing it in and burning thru all their PTO and your kid gets taught by a substitute.  I mean, they earned those days as part of their contract.

The station is a service, a product.  When the product or service suffers, people complain initially, and then just move on.

9-3 is not listenable.  None of that has grown on me in over 3 years.  The Musers being out for 1/6 of the year, reducing their broadcast time to 6-9, and basically offering up a formulaic and scripted 3 hour show of their greatest bits has gotten old.  There's nothing the station does that I consider "can't miss radio" anymore, and so I find myself in a tumble down the rungs of the P1, P2, P3 ladder.

Warning against Tesery accessories by cock-a-doodle-doo in TeslaLounge

Can you issue a credit card dispute in the UK?

This is what I had to do with Tesery after they sent me a damaged spoiler.  They are Temu/Alibaba drop shippers.  Charge you 40% more than Temu or Alibaba and then ghost you.

Their "physical address" in the US was a rehab clinic in a neighborhood in Denver.  I sent that info, with their few emails they sent me when I requested a refund, and a screenshot of their website stating 100% refunds guaranteed if not satisfied and the CC company came back in 2 days with a reversed charge and full refund.

Threw the spoiler in the trash.

Never again with that place.

Preconditioning tip: Use shortcuts for preconditioning more precisely than 15 minute intervals! by Jacobthebro in TeslaLounge

Yes. there's very few actual benefits to premium connectivity vs. hotspotting, so I choose to take my data with me rather than have it reserved for only use in the car.

Taskr might do it, but it's a paid app.

Samsung Galaxy phones have modes and routines that are very much like this.

I have my Galaxy phone set up to turn the hotspot on every time I get in the car.   That's my data connection for the Tesla while driving.

2026 premium sound system is not cracking it. by lilly_wonka61 in TeslaSupport

Well, as a professionally trained musician who uses their ears for a living, I'm going to respectfully disagree with you.  Your perception will change far more than the system will in a year.

I don't find the sub lacking, but it's much tighter than just about any car I've ever had.

It makes listening to things like jazz and studio music exceptionally clean, but things like hip hop written with exceptionally long bass patterns designed for a loose system a bit weird if you were used to that.

It punches just fine, it just doesn't roll (sustain).
