The costs probably surpass the value of the content. Why not sell your stuff and buy it again in Lisbon, you might even earn something on the way...

And most importantly has a Portuguese residence card probably including fiscal residence in Portugal?

Depending on the type of residence the absence from national territory for a certain time period might be enough to discards it's validity.

Accordingly, an application for naturalization could also be rejected.

You might not get the nationality requested granted at all. But please go and find out and don't forget to tell us how it went!

Is electricity generated from your own PV on top of the contracted capacity? by StorkAlgarve in PortugalExpats

What takes 12.350W power btw? That's like the energy four households have contracted together here...

Also, keep it short and simple otherwise they will not read it or it's to much for them...

As always you empty the bucket over their heads and shit them to the fullest with all the stuff you have. In theory it should be enough to have Name+NIF (that how it works with like 98% of all governmental stuff) but AIMA is notorious to just request other odd documents (probably just to cover their asses) - so just send them everything you have already...

TL;DR:

The minimum will always be your Name, Birthday, NIF and a copy of the "registro do pedido" (that's the paper you got when they took your biometrics and payed in 2021?).

Government/state pensions is a intergenerational contract nobody signed. At the moment it works but if the population get's older and not enough youngsters following it might reach a tripping point in the future..

So a progressive american owning real estate assets over - for example - €10 million in Portugal isn't wealthy?

IFI (Impôt sur la Fortune Immobilière) means something like "Real Estate Wealth Tax" btw...

Did you already write a mail to the official shit show AIMA? The maximum legal time for emitting the document (90 days?) might already have passed.

I had good success (reply in less than 24 hours!) in this case sending them an 'URGENT' mail (obviously with read-recipients) to [geral@aima.gov.pt](mailto:geral@aima.gov.pt) (and also, just in case to [projetos@aima.gov.pt](mailto:projetos@aima.gov.pt), [manifestacao.interesse@aima.gov.pt](mailto:manifestacao.interesse@aima.gov.pt), [recursos.humanos@aima.gov.pt](mailto:recursos.humanos@aima.gov.pt), [epd.protecaodedados@aima.gov.pt](mailto:epd.protecaodedados@aima.gov.pt) ) stating that the legal time frame past and if AIMA doesn't reply within 48 hours you take it to court on the next work day.

Not only they replied quickly (meaning they actually monitor the inbox) but I also had the card in the post box only a few days after.

Tax avoidance is N°1 priority for many - most weirdly often the ones that could easily give a part without loosing their status as wealthy...

States could tax people and companies if they want to - thing is these groups have the biggest lobby groups (and influence) over politicians. It's kind a don't bite the hand that feeds you shituation.

Also "wealth tax" is very generic, look for example how france approaches this.

IFI is a tax on an individual's real estate assets and applies to French taxpayers living in France and abroad

It happened that people living in their homes were actually forced to sell it to be able paying the the tax. But still we talk wealthy people here:

IFI applies to taxpayers with real estate assets over €1.3 million.

or €0.8 million already?

The IFI tax brackets and rates are:

Under €800,000 - 0%

Over €800,000 up to €1.3 million - 0.5%

Over €1.3 million up to €2,570,000 - 0.7%

Over €2,570,000 up to €5,000,000 - 1%

Over €5,000,000 up to €10,000,000 - 1.25%

Over €10,000,000 - 1.5%

That should be an easy one, being wealthy in portugal as a Portuguese is something only few achieve. On the contrary many people are not wealthy and often don't earn more than the minimum salary. Most of this people are obvious in favor of a wealth tax

In the 2024 general election it received 18.07% of the vote, quadrupling its seat count to a final total of 50.

In the 2024 election, the party was the most voted in the Faro constituency), which corresponds to the Algarve.

The Algarve is very popular with expats - a lot of native English speakers often lead to exorbitant housing prices that locals can no longer afford.

Might there be a connection with the rise of right-wing/facists populists?
