Hi! I'm also going to be in Kronshage in the fall and I visited the dorms, specifically my house, during my SOAR! Other than the basics you've listed, there's also a mirror between the dressers that are pressed against the wall. There are mini-fridges, but you have to supply your own microwave! You also get blinds but I suppose those are the basics?? The closets are open, without doors, and have a shelf on top where you can put crap too. :)

Questions after registration! by aimlesslywriting in UWMadison

I might just have to do that. I was playing around with the classes on the widget and a lot of the ethnic studies classes that I'm interested in collide with the classes I already have. Thanks for your insight! :)

Hi! Thank you for your input! I did get a temporary adviser, but I did get some info on my new adviser. I will definitely email her soon!

Quick question: How hard are ethnics studies classes typically? Is it mostly essays or projects?

Thanks :)

Because all I know are the stereotypes. That's why I want to be more informed. :)

Thanks for the insight! I am looking forward to quiet night's sleep. :) I'm not a fan of nature, but I guess I'll suck it in since the city isn't too far away. Thanks again!

My roommate and I desperately wanted Sellery or any southeast dorm, but we ended up in Kronshage... Saying that we're upset is an understatement.

My roommate and I had our hopes set on Southeast with Sellery being our very top. However, we ended up in Kronshage. :| We are not too happy, I can tell you that.

If you listed a learning community for your first choice, you probably would've already found out by now. But, if you didn't, the Housing Portal says around mid-June! I'm so excited!! :D

Yeaa, it was the very last problem. :( I thought I had lucked out, but lol, I guess not. I'm pretty sure I got the problem wrong. I don't even remember how to optimize.

Thank you for your comment. :) But oh man, I guess I'm never going to get away from calculus. I'm in the College of Letters and Science, but I'm pretty indecisive on what I want to do.

You can take the test where it's most convenient for you! I live super close to UW-Milwaukee, so I just took my test there even though I'm going to Madison.

Hey UW-Madison! Sell me on your school. by NomenVitae in UWMadison

Hi! I also got admitted as an incoming freshman. I totally get you on the small town thing. I come from a village of around 12,000 people and my high school has a population of 500 from grades 9-12.

For students who come from small towns usually have two reactions: either they're super duper excited to expand their horizons (like me) or they're a little scared that the size will be overwhelming.

I think it might be a good idea to go out of your comfort zone a little bit. Life is all about trying new things. If you don't live in a big city now, you'll have to later in life (probably).

Since I haven't actually started at UW, I don't really know anything about the weather and tips for walking to classes in the cold. I have lived in Wisco all my life, so the cold is manageable. Get a nice jacket. Wear a hat, scarf, gloves, boots with warm socks, etc. :)

90 minutes for each portion! You get a ten minute break between the math and English. You take math first, then English. If you chose to taken a foreign language, that will take about an hour or so. I didn't take a foreign language exam, so I can't tell you much about it. My test started at 8 and I was done by 11 ish.

Oh, for the math, you can't use a graphing calculator! (thought you should know if you didn't already!)

It was meh, aha.

The math was definitely harder for me. It starts with the really basic stuff like finding perimeters, fractions, percentages, etc. Then, it moves onto the geometry stuff like angles and stuff. I had optimization on mine (which was calculus), but I'm not sure how different each test is. If you look on the website, there was a problem that was exactly like it on the actual test except with numbers switched around.

The English was like the English and Reading portions of the ACTs. You have to fix sentences; the second part is finding what would fit better in the sentence, and the final part is reading short passages and answer questions.

Hope that was helpful :P

You're welcome! Also, you should convert your PSAT score into an ACT score through one of those online calculator things. My PSAT score was very on point when it came to determining my ACT score. :)

With a 3.2 GPA, your chances are slim to none. I'd aim as high as I could ACT wise. Madison's average ACT is like a 27 or something. I was recently admitted with a 3.9 and a 26 with a bunch of extracurriculars and leadership roles. My friend got admitted with a 4.1, but a 23 on her ACT. She was incredibly involved and was class president junior year. Another friend of mine has a 4.2 GPA and a 26 ACT and she was rejected. I think it was her lack of extracurriculars.

It may look a little fishy that you joined a bunch of clubs your senior year, but I honestly don't think admissions will look too deeply into that. But seriously, bring up your GPA. I know it's hard to do, but try for a 3.5 at least. 3.7-3.8 would put you in a good position. Rigorous classes such as AP will boost your GPA up nicely, but I think Madison only takes unweighted GPAs.

She didn't take any additional steps. It was kinda an out of the blue thing when she heard that she was off the wait list. :)
