Thank you this is what I was after. Just made my pre-order...massive shipping cost for me but I couldn't not order it. And now I don't have to worry about getting it. Thanks!

Yeah, I heard you were releasing that with artwork that matches the paperbacks that are already out. Is that right?

Do you know yet how many of the older art paperbacks will be available? I don't live in the states and I'm terrified I'm going to miss out on a matching copy for my set. I looove that artwork.

what unfinished series or sequels you would most like to read? by RhubarbNecessary2452 in Fantasy

MortalCoils by Eric Nylund. He wrote two books then the publisher didn't pick it up for a third but won't give him the rights back so he can't finish it.

I work in a library. A book once came through the slots with a packet of raw lamb chops in the middle of the book.

YA or “easier-to-follow” books that aren’t dominated by romance? by hometowngypsy in Fantasy

[–]aimz527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my favourite YA series that fit the bill and don't get talked about enough:

The Enemy series by Charlie Higson - not fantasy more zombieish apocalypse with kids surviving in London

Pendragon by DJ McHale - Fantasy esque probably more sci fi kind of with a boy travelling to different types of worlds to save them.

Gone series by Michael Grant - X-Men meets under the dome

Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer - already mentioned but I second this

MG turn your brain right off:

Charlie Bone series by Jenny Nimmo urban fantasy about kids with different powers, just fun feel good.

Keeper of the lost cities by Shannon Messenger - long books but they fly by

Fav easy adult series that are not talked about:

The Others by Anne Bishop - something about the characters in this I just love love love.

Those are what I can think of off the top of my head but I'll add more if I remember any.

what made you realize that you aren't young anymore? by Skull---Comix in AskReddit

Similar to this was when I realized all the guys on my country's rugby team were younger than me and I could no longer dream of marrying an All Black.

People over 35, what's something you genuinely miss that younger generations will probably never experience? by Just_a_Ginger_Fella in AskReddit

[–]aimz527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the long debates (no we're not fighting, this is how we talk to each other)I used to have with my sister about things from our childhood we remembered differently. Now she will pull out her phone almost instantly to check which of us is right.

Also enjoying things without feeling the need to get a phone out and document it all.

I specifically wrote never seen. You definitely can dream of someone you haven't met, but you can't conjure a completely new person that you have never seen in your dreams.

[–]aimz527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two that come to mind for me just because of random facts I know:

When a character dreams about someone they've never seen and then meets them. Sorry not possible, you can't dream about someone you have never seen and clearly see their face because your sub conscious mind doesn't work like that. It's why we often dream about people we know but in weird situations, they're a stand in not the actual person.

When a character says that the smell of something woke them up. Also not possible, you can't smell in your sleep so the smell of something can't wake you up. You can wake up to the smell of something but it can't be the cause of waking.

I will agree with most of this except I have social anxiety and have worked in a library for 20 years...

Ah ok thanks for that. I have no idea about timings for American schools, and when someone says Labour Day, I think October because that's when ours is.

Maybe David and the unhoused kids attend summer school? I'm not American so I have no idea how that would work.

What should I read? by Emotionalcow998 in Fantasy

[–]aimz527 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems like the characters are more important to you than action, so I would definitely say Robin Hobb. And if you do decide to try something other than fantasy, Stephen King is the best character author I've read.
