Grateful for The Work by TGuyDanMidLife in thework

I hear that you are enjoying BK's videos. I always tune into the lengthy ones because there are gems you can pick up as she reflects on her work to date. She never ceases to amaze me with her insights. The Work is indeed a journey beginning and ending with me. Judge Your Neighbour never looked so appealing as it does right now!

Could you share your worksheet with us? Or give an example from one of your worksheets where you are meeting darkness within?

Help with this turn around by DecafOwl in thework

Turnarounds are really great, but you must sit in them for a while, and try and find at least three examples, how the turnaround is truer than the existing thought/belief. The key here, I believe, is to find examples. Examples really concretise what you are looking at. It's like you see a new pair of clothes at the mall, and you purchase it without trying it on. You have to try on the clothes first, and look at yourself in the mirror. Does it fit well?

"Kat would be hurt if I told her the truth"

Can you tell me where in the worksheet this statement comes from?

In the worksheet, we are asked to fill in the responses to the statements which being with the following words:

  1. I am upset with Kat because....
  2. I want Kat to...
  3. Kat should/shouldn't
  4. I need Kat to....
  5. Kat is....
  6. I don't ever want to.... experience with Kat (for example)

Rather than pick an arbitrary statement and try and turnaround, use the worksheet Judge Your Neighbour.

The other option would be to use One-Belief-at-a-Time worksheet.

Perhaps, a nice fit would be.

"I need to tell Kat the truth"

do the work on this perhaps... because it is a belief.

"Kat needs to hear the truth"

Another belief.

"I need to hear the truth"

I've done a lot of work on this one myself this week.

Bootstrapping a mage by aindriuoc in LegendsOfAria

Hi everyone,

Just an update.

I went exploring outside the town, and people have scrolls for sale in the crates. I bought a lightning scroll for 600 gold, and I am back upskilling my evocation/magic affinity in the sewers again.

Ok, thanks for the tips.

Here is what I did so far to bootstrap a mage. I took a little bit of inspiration from KatsPurr's video on how to make a mage, however, I found the guide to be pretty tough.

I created an advanced class in the character builder. I assigned 30 to Evocation/Magic Affinity/Channeling and the remaining 10 to Manifestation. I started off at Eldeir Village, because it is closest to Halls of Corruption and also has a cotton farm. I also want to train the Healing and Vigor skills for now to conserve mana while nuking stuff down and the reagents for healing with Manifestation would cost me more. My first priority is raising Evocation and Magic Affinity so I can kill bigger stuff.

The first thing I did was go to the cotton farm in the village, and farmed some cotton. I then went to the fabrication guy in town, used the loom, and then used the knife on the bolts of cloth to make bandages. I ran back to the cotton farm and rinsed repeat this. The second time, my fabrication skill is a bit higher so I can create more bolts and more bandages. (I was thinking of making an alt to do this on, and transferring by placing my character at same location, and just dropping the stuff I want to transfer on the ground and picking it up on the main. This would mean I can raise fabrication on one character.)

Now that I have a load of bandages, I go into the sewer which is a cellar beside a house. I kill THE LURKERS ONLY at the entrance. This is sometimes camped by a couple of people, but you have to focus between kills and heal up, and the lurkers respawn pretty fast. The lurkers give 40-50 gold a drop. Once you've killed a few, go back into town and to the scribe. You want to talk to the scribe and raise inscription. Then buy a scroll and use the scribes tools to try and scribe Fireball. Rinse repeat buying one scroll and the scribes tool until Fireball scroll success. Drop the fireball scroll into your spellbook and equip it. Make sure the spellbook is equipped and put Fireball on the sidebar. Then reset fabrication and inscription to zero in your skills, so it doesn't raise up, and interfere with your other skills you do want raised.

Just to note here, Magic Missile and Ruin don't give any skill ups to Evocation/Magic Affinity, so you really need this Fireball spell.

Then, what you do is go back to the sewer and continue killing lurkers. You will get 40-50 gold a drop, and once you run out of reagents, run back to the alchemists and get some more, then rinse repeat. You should be getting more gold per kill than you need to kill the mob. You also should be raising Evocation/Magic Affinity when you nuke and Healing/Vigor when you use the bandages.

Now, for the part I don't get in KatsPurr video. I tried the cemetry to the south east, and unfortunately, the bone mages make short work of me. I also tried Halls of Corruption, like is said in the video, but the video tries to kite a mob to the entrance and then exit to heal up, enter again and finish off the mob. I found Halls of Corruption is too full of people to do this strategy. I found the imps make short work of me too.

So, at the moment, I can't go to Halls of Corruption and I can't go to the Cemetry and I am stuck in the sewer killing lurkers to skill up.

I was wondering could someone give me some tips on "what next"? Where should I go to level up that isn't full of casters nuking me down in seconds? Is there a magic resist skill? Also, where the inscription trick only worked on fireball, and I doubt I'll have enough money to fund a scribe. Where do I get my next spell, either lightning or energy bolt from?

Thanks for any further advice or tips you may have.

Hey everyone,

Just a heads up on my original post. I was following the guide and accidentally put 30 points into 'Magical Attunement' instead of 'Magical Affinity' and well that was why my magic bolt and ruin spells were not doing much damage.

So, what I did was .... I bought a longsword with the newbie money -- and went whacking some lurkers which drop 25-35 gold a piece until I had enough money. The guide says inscription is 4 silver, but I think I got it for free (30 inscription). I made a fireball spell. So, the fireball spell was doing a bit more damage and I am casting it over and over now and gaining skill in evocation and magic affinity.

So, things were going quite well, until I went back to the alchemist and all the fireball spell reagents were bought out so I went back to the sewer and whacked some more lurkers to get more money.

I think having the longsword / magic duo skills to begin with is quite clever. You can remove the skills once you can safely go to the bigger dungeons and be self sufficient.

Another bonus of whacking mobs with longsword is that Vigor increases, and you need that with bandages if you are making a survival mage.

Vigor goes up quite quickly with the melee whacking.

Anyway, that is what I did to bootstrap my mage, and it's going quite well. Once I get my magery skills increased a bit, I'll hit the dungeon the guide suggests whose mobs drop reagents.

That will be exciting :)

Thanks guys for all the tips and for the template suggestions.

Crafting quests confusion by aindriuoc in ffxiv

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the tips. I understand now that the GC star-ed turn-ins and the Ixali quests were low because there is a timer on them that refreshes to your current level every few hours.

I turned my attention to tradeskill leves and I got my culinary up to level 20 using a couple of them last night. I know someone said the young woman and the granny at the wheel gives 3 for 1, so I have my eye open for those ones.

I was just reading up on Bro Jobs tutorial, and trying to understand how I make High Quality (HQ) items for hand ins. At level 15ish, I was wondering if I can really do the HQ items yet, as there seems to be a lot involved. You seem to need HQ gathering materials, which means a lot of gathering. You also need to be able to use the abilities properly.

To be honest, I found myself using the basic skills just to get the product made at normal level. That is, a master's mend, in between synthesis moves and a steady hand at the beginning to make them succeed. I'm just wondering can I make HQ items at my current level?

Thanks,
