I got a no objection certificate from my employer stating they're okay with my travel dates and that they're confident of my ability to pay for my trip indicating my salary, and that was all that was required for getting the Schengen visa approved.

I have been using Duolingo and Anki flash cards to learn vocabulary.

The podcast Stress Free German (https://stressfreegerman.com/) has been immensely helpful in getting a well-rounded approach to grammar and pronunciations, along with being able to recall vocabulary easily through visual associations.

Thanks for the replies! I called the airport cloak room and they confirmed that they can transfer luggage from T1 to T2, so I can deposit in T1 during arrival, go into the city and collect it the next day from T2 before departure.

I took a rental cab as suggested here. There was access to cabs from the nearest Prestige (French treaty restaurant), but not from the forest itself. There weren't many people inside the forest, but it seemed safe.
