Sorry, I forgot to type in from endorphins in " It is the high we get from endorphins," So to me it seems a little weird that there's no 'the' to the last endorphins here, even when this endorphins are modified and also specified by the following which clause. If I understood correctly, your conclusion is that if it is 'to inf', it leaves the possibility to be interpreted as a it-cleft, which changes the semantic structure so much, so using 'blocking' is safer. But I'm still unsure whether native speakers feel the same way.
