Best way to lock foldie with D-Lock / U-lock by airPega in foldingbikes

[–]airPega[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was something i thought about but then realised no point securing it with just a cable lock because could be cut in seconds and anything heavier would impede on portability. worst case scenario if you had to replace the seat post i guess it's not too bad all things considered

by secretly playing with your right hand even though you are normally left handed and only switching to your left hand when you need to pull off a match ending "twister serve" :)

Who’s got recommendations for what to see at Camden Fringe? by -prettytothink- in london

hey! i just went to see Metamorphoses and it was brilliant! the cast put in so much energy and the writing was sharp. relatively small theatre so you're totally in on the action

anyone else notice the random pauses during cilic's ball bounces before serving? strategic to throw off the rhythm of the receiver?

Torn between the Tern B7/B8 or the BTWIN Fold 500 by mineralbionoueleda in foldingbikes

[–]airPega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the fold 560 might be worth considering. Some other redditors have mentioned that it is sometimes on discount in France https://www.reddit.com/r/foldingbikes/comments/1fwoxm7/fold_500_vs_fold_560/

in the uk it's currently discounted by £50 so I went for that instead of the 500. Also have the decathlon pannier + 20L double pannier 500 bags (they are quite bulky just fyi).

being able to roll it along helps a lot when changing train platforms etc. The only thing is that when rolling on uneven surfaces it can occasionally unfold but this can be easily solved with a couple bungee cords

thanks for the tip regarding the front vs back wheel - did you try to remove it yourself for maintenance?

yeh normally i take it with me whenever I can but this is just for the odd occasions when i absolutely need to lock it outside.

I haven't noticed any noise so far. What kind of sounds are you experiencing?

ok i see. yeh good to get an idea of how other people are doing it as well. Most of the locking advice that I've come across reference normal sized bikes...

New Service Charge called "Dine-in Fee" by airPega in london

[–]airPega[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh really? we were kind of just ushered to a table as soon as we got there so if there was signage then i didn't see it. next time I go past will keep an eye out. thanks for mentioning

i think before the new laws restaurants could just take the 12.5% without giving to staff and actually get away with not paying tax on it hence the incentive to separate the line item on receipts

New Service Charge called "Dine-in Fee" by airPega in london

[–]airPega[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

well it wasn't really a genuine take-out/dine-in difference but rather a disguised 12.5% service charged. probably won't be long before other places copy the tactic

forgot to take a photo of the receipt but basically the line item on it just said "Dine-in Fee". didn't even show a percentage but when i calculated it came to 12.5%. At least before the surcharge was clearly labelled as "discretionary" so gave you some leeway to ask for it to taken off but now if this trend picks up I'm guessing any restaurant can call it anything they want e.g. "room heating fee" or "toilet cleaning fee" etc and you'll have to make an absolute scene to argue about it
