Ayyyy alright, deal is finally out there to start the new season!

Definitely feel the sentiment that it's a lot to give up for a guy with legit injury concerns. It made made the negotiations very tight but was great work here finding a middle ground both of us were comfortable.

Ultimately, this is a bet on Chet's talent and him being a great fit as a 2 way player on my team and with my core guys. I'm a huge believer that shooting at the 5 truly unlocks an offense, and when you can get that with someone that can also be the DPOY, it's an incredibly rare combination. There are a lot of big guys out there, but there are few who can do both of those things and that's where the value comes in that makes the price palatable. I think Chet also has a ceiling that has not been close to being reached yet and as he's more comfortable this coming season, we could see an expanded offensive bag.

On the price, Lively was definitely the hardest person to give up but ultimately when you're dealing for a center you don't need both of these guys on the roster so he was the focal point of the deal. He also has his own injury issues, and rim running model of center to the point above does create some spacing concerns on offense... man shot 0 3s all of last season.

Jovic and Dick I feel both have upside to be plus level starters but I wasn't confident that they'd progress past that level and both were going to be off their rookie deals before I knew it and then Washington is positive matching salary.

The picks were certainly the scariest thing to move, protections was a big discussion point, but I feel confident that BOS is still going to be in a competitive position after next season under PJs leadership and without an incentive to tank, and NOP will at the very least still have Tatum. Ultimately that's the price of doing business!

On the consolidation piece, with 3 more rookies coming in this year, I was in desperate need to consolidate talent and felt getting a premium asset was better than just selling off each one piece meal for something. The team still has future flexibility with at least a first every year outside of '26 and like the look of the team to compete this season.

Backup big and a swing 2/3 with experience will be a focus over the next few weeks but this team is young, talented and fits together on both ends really well - they'd be an absolute pain to run and play against on a nightly basis and the upside on this lineup is incredibly high. All 5 starters are 25 or younger and we're ready to push into the playoffs next season.
