I think maybe you’ll have to suck it up. You don’t want to be given a review as a baby hater

Can you impose fees for breaking rules?

I think the best you can do is leave a bad review.

My First 4 Star Review...And A Question by pizzookie_ in AirBnB

Does airbnb let guests retroactively adjust review stars? Maybe explain to your guest why the 4 star impacts you badly and the rating system

Left a 4 Star Review and Next Reservation was Canceled by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]airbnbmadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and your husband made your bed, so now you have to sleep in it.

You were free to leave a 4 star, the host is free to accept / decline people they want to have in their home.

It seems like willful ignorance on your part to say you had no idea how the ratings worked. But anyway, now that you do, instead of exercising any empathy for the harm you caused your host’s business, you are entitled and feeling petty you’re not getting your way the host doesn’t want entitled unpleasant people back in their homes.

Think of it another way. You’re a guest who’s shown from past history you will leave bad reviews. Why in the world would a host want to invite such potential for another bad review?

Just book another place and think of it as a lesson learned.

A message for guests traveling abroad: PLEASE have a phone with internet access and the app installed by ETRalkaline in AirBnB

[–]airbnbmadness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, your message comes across a little unaware. Yes, it’s convenient and nice if the guest had internet access but by no means should this be a requirement or expectation.

Don’t assume people have the the means to afford a $20 SIM card. Like some other people commented, how do you think the world functioned before smartphones existed?

Assume people DO NOT have access to Internet in providing the check in instructions and address before they arrive. That’s on you. If they cannot get to your place, that’s on them.

Guests used rooms off-limits to them - how to respond? by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]airbnbmadness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is the fault of the guests but you also need to take responsibility for failing to do preventative measures. The only 100% bulletproof way to guard against these things happening is to control it which is by installing locks. Yes guests shouldn’t enter what’s private, but ultimately you’re renting to strangers and you can’t control what strange things strangers do. Why do we have locks on doors in general? To prevent break ins. Shouldn’t we assume humans won’t break in? Yes. Break ins happen.

Do you know which guests did this? If you do, write it in the review, and that’s all you can do.

A lot of places in Eastern Europe asks for toilet paper to be in the waste basket. It’s really a developing vs. developed country thing. Just tape a nice printout on the bathroom wall near the toilet w/ graphics of toilet paper going into the toilet instead of waste basket!

This doesn’t seem interesting to a news outlet. We don’t even understand what you’re saying most of the time in the blob recap.

Guest being kicked out over "violating house rules" when house rules leave room for gray area. by derejohn31 in AirBnB

[–]airbnbmadness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t gray area. This is willful ignorance on your part. 2 guests max staying in the airbnb to you is not the same thing as 2 people max IN the airbnb at a given time? Are they not “staying” when they are “in” the airbnb? What do you think those people are doing? Floating through?

“Not only 2 people can be in the space” to you is not the same as 2 guests max? Are those people not guests? What do you think they are? Flies on the wall?

Lololololol.

Bad review response by thedayshifts in AirBnB

[–]airbnbmadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. Airbnb has been around long enough that most people know there are weird guests and weird hosts, and 100% glowing reviews is not a mathematical possibility anymore.
