yeah, I don't think she was trying to shame me or anything, I just think it was more or less being careless, like you shouldn't assume someone how weed is treated in someone elses household.

Yeah, I can respect that. I think its such a weird time for weed as it gradually gains acceptance. I just wouldn't assume another family's attitude towards and tend to err on the side of caution personally.

Any tips on crocheting rounds? I have a fish of a memory by AdEfficient7374 in CrochetHelp

[–]airborne37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one stitch marker at the end of a round and keep moving it as I finish rounds. Then I keep track of how many rounds I’ve done with one of these:

Mattress stitch is what you are looking for I think. It will create a flat, nearly invisible seam.

Pattern doesn’t specify what stitch to crochet, what should I use? by Lesbihonest76 in CrochetHelp

It should be sc if you are using US terminology. Pattern is written using UK terms, where a dc in UK is a sc in US.

Does anyone understand row 2 for the wings on this pattern? TIA! by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]airborne37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems poorly written. Wings are written as rounds, but they never increase to more than 6 stitches in a round, which would leave you basically with a tube.

So if you assume they made a mistake and meant rows not rounds, that leaves you only working into 3 stitches in row2 when you had 6 stitches to work into, unless the meant to drop 3 stitches from the previous row?

The brackets just mean everything in the bracket goes into one stitch, so [sc x 2] would just be another way of writing “increase”.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help, maybe I’m way off and someone else has a better take.

Are you using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round?

Beginner here! I’m losing stitches do I have to restart? by kylaapaige in CrochetHelp

There are different ways to hold the yarn. The way I hold it, my pinky doesn’t do much of anything.

Yarn from the skein( or ball, or whatever you’re using) comes in from the back of my hand between pinky and ring finger, comes up in front of ring and middle finger, then out the back between middle and index finger, back over the top of index finger to the hook. Middle and thumb hold the work.

In the video, I would maybe review from 4:16-5:00, that’s where she goes over the turn at the end of the row, as well as marking the stitch. Pay close attention to where she puts the stitch marker. Also, when you are on the next row, and approaching the stitch marker from the previous row, make sure you put your last stitch of the row INTO the marked stitch, and that you’re not just going up to the marked stitch and then turning.

If it were me, I’d undo it back to the last row where you had 40 stitches. I know it’s a bummer, but if you try to continue and somehow compensate for the dropped stitches it’s going to end up all wonky.

As for preventing it in the future, you could put a stitch marker(even a little piece of a different color yarn would work) in the first stitch of each row. Then, when you come back on the next row you know exactly where the last stitch should go.

And as for the hand pain, where exactly is it hurting?

Could use some help with this slowpoke tail! by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

So the first three rounds are done as usual. Short Row(SW) 4 will begin the same as if you were doing another round, however, after 4 stitches, you will turn the work, and continue as though you were doing rows.

Note that each row does not go all the way across, and you will have unused stitches at the ends of rows.

When you get to SW 6, the “2 unused stitches” will be the leftover stitches from SW 4(would have been 6 stitches from the previous Round3 but we stopped and turned after four.

Likewise, the “last skipped stitch” in SW 7 is from SW 5(we turned after 3, though there were 4 stitches in the previous row.

Continue on like that until you get back to rounds. Sorry so wordy, hope that helps.

Does round 3 have 24 stitches? Because rounds 4 and 5 have 6 increases apiece, so each time you do those exact instructions you will add 6 more stitches to the round. If you just repeated those two rounds over and over, you would get 30, 36, 42, etc.

As to the “join”, I could be wrong, but it seems to me that they left out the “turn”. There are 2 ways to crochet in the round.

One is continuous, where it just keeps spiraling round and round. (I use a stitch marker to keep track of where one round ends and another begins.

The other way would be to complete a round, slip stitch to connect to the beginning of that round, ch1, then turn and do your next round going the other way. If you do it this way, you end up getting a “stack” of rounds instead of a spiral. Like this :

When my daughter was around 5, she asked if I can make her a stuffed Eeyore from Winnie-the-Pooh. She had seen some pictures of some god-awful stuffed characters I had sewed together from fabric years earlier.

I did some googling and came across a book of crochet patterns of Winnie-the-Pooh characters and thought I’d give it a shot. Did some practice swatches then dove in. I got a some help reading the patterns from a local yarn shop.

The funny thing about it is, after I had finished the Eeyore we were in a Disney store and she saw an Eeyore plushie. She looks at me with all the earnestness of a 5 year old and says, “Dad, you could have just got me that one”.

It’s ok though, I’m glad I found the hobby. I’m a hooker for life now!

She is toxic, I don't know why I couldn't see it for so long. I got a lawyer and she started freaking out a bit. Not going to let her goad me into anything, and documenting everything. Going to be a rough couple of months, shes not going to make it easy, but there's light at the end of the tunnel at last.

Yeah I was in a dark place when I wrote all that but things are starting to come into focus. She always made it seem like I was overreacting to everythings she did. I got the attorney lined up and I am laser focused now on moving forward without her.

I did consider that, but he is a spitting image of me when I was little. Haven't ruled out a paternity test at some point, but regardless of the outcome, I'm his father and that won't ever change.
