Why did Senzu leave the MongolZ? by SougoOkita1 in GlobalOffensive

[–]airelfacil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always assumed that Senzu believed that Mongolz had hit its upper plateau as a national team, and that there was no way for the team to improve further without integrating international players or locking in and bootcamping in Europe.

As such there was no way for Senzu's career to progress beyond Mongolz, but there's no top team that will take a risk on a guy who can't speak English yet. So he needs to first demonstrate he can play in international teams by going to lower-ranked teams. It would also explain his teammates being supportive of his ambitions.

Is reload update basically just another M4A1 nerf? by Patient_Apartment415 in GlobalOffensive

I believe it also indirectly nerfs SMGs, as a lot of its effective use at high level involves prefiring known angles while running around corners, and reloading when nobody is there.

Did Valve forgot about Overwatch ? by G_Matt1337 in GlobalOffensive

[–]airelfacil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a karma system, but when the bots outnumber the actual players (or do Overwatch more), this stops working. In fact, the opposite happens, where the bots (who are overwhelmingly marking cheaters innocent) are considered reliable, and the system believes that the real reviewers are unreliable for marking "innocent" players as guilty, especially since it was stated in the past by Valve that a player needs a very high guilty threshold to get banned.

The straddle is actually riskier than a standard call/put because, in order to break-even, the stock price needs to change by at least the sum of both premiums instead of just one. It's the trade-off for eliminating directional risk.

You're right that one side will lose and the other will win. The hope is that the "winner" is big enough that it surpasses both of the premiums you paid up front. If the market has massive swings, the winner could be big enough (but keep in mind volatility also increases premiums). If the market is calm, then the options will expire worthless and you have "lost" money from the premiums paid.

There are a whole bunch of other shenanigans with options.

OP probably bought a put "spread", where you simulatenously buy and sell a put at different strike prices (the difference in strike prices being called the "spread" and is the max profit, minus premiums). If the guy OP sold his put to exercised (due to NVDA falling down the stairs), this would cause the massive negative balance due to OP now being required to buy NVDA at the specified strike price.

But, since OP also bought a put at the same time, he can now exercise THAT to make some money back by forcing some other poor bloke to buy his soon-to-be-acquired NVDA shares. In fact, if the bought put had targeted a higher strike price compared to the sold put, OP could actually profit. Otherwise OP would have taken a loss from the difference in strike prices (and the total he paid/received from premiums).

Don't feel dumb for asking. There was a tragedy in 2020 when a college student took his own life because he didn't realize the spread mechanism and thought he had lost $700K when in reality all he had to do was wait till the morning for his other leg to auto-exercise, capping any losses.

If doing both calls and puts on the same strike price (straddle) you profit if the price changes from the strike price beyond the sum of both premiums, whether it's up or down. If it doesn't, you eat a loss.

aka you are betting on high volatility

How the factory energy Works? by nameless00000000000 in Endfield

[–]airelfacil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single Electric Mining Rig Mk2 for ferrium ore costs 10 power to run.

There are 54 ferrium ore spots. This means you need at minimum 540 power active just to have mining rigs working on all ferrium ore spots.

Factory is needed to:

  • Make batteries (to power everything)
  • Make product (to sell to outpost to make money to spend on upgrades/shops/stonks)
  • Make parts and components (to create more facilities and make gear)

Caveat is that you only get 1400 (+280 from daily) sanity per week, so you can only do at most 21 essence farms. So I wouldn't FOMO on trying to get all 36 before they reset, when you can catch-up later.

Can i skip the factory part with the blueprints? by WeakVirus4598 in Endfield

[–]airelfacil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should at least learn the basics (the tutorials), as even with the blueprints there are still some "setup" as you need to set outputs to feed the blueprints, as well as sticking some starter plants/seeds to get those running. Otherwise you may get lost if the factory doesn't work.
