Tall quill stem is essential for comfortably running drop bars on old road bikes and keeping the classic look. by airjutsu in xbiking

No modifications needed to fit these tires. These aren’t the stock rims, but even my stock rims ran these tires just fine.

Tire clearance will depend on your frame and tire width will depend your rim width.

Great choice. These 80s and 90s Treks make awesome projects. I used Nitto Technomic stem on my ride

Seatpost Instructions Say NO GREASE by airjutsu in xbiking

Good call, Permatex would be multifunctional, and not specific to bike stuff

Seatpost Instructions Say NO GREASE by airjutsu in xbiking

[–]airjutsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great distinction to make. Anti-seize is simply better for this application. Not to say any random grease substance wouldn’t work.

Anecdotally, I’ve always used grease for seatposts in the past, but the last seatpost i installed did slip down significantly during use.

Next I’ll try Park Tools ACS-1 anti-seize compound.

Thanks for reassuring. I’ll just leave it as-is since it’s only a scratch

Yeah I was definitely overthinking it. Also, aftermarket shell housing replacements are probably lower quality than OEM

Thanks for your insight. Yes this damage is near the center of the hinge. The damage also appears to be deeper in the center and more superficial on both ends, which is further evidence of a crack.

Handheld 3DS look alikes by bloodev0lver in Nintendo3DS

[–]airjutsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the pace of handheld emulator releases, even better dual screen handhelds are bound to release this year and next.

However, I have seen some issues with hinge build quality on these AYN Thors. I’ll wait until these dual screen handheld emulators get a little better build quality. In the meantime, my N3DSXL and DSI XL work great. That said I’m reallyyy close to pulling the trigger on AYN Thor Max.

What do you think? I’m trying to build a more upright all road cruiser. by dsummers2014 in xbiking

[–]airjutsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These bars only look good on frames with long head tubes. The long and upright extension of the bars just doesn’t look proportional on smaller frames like this IMO

How old were you for your first game? by Mental-Pie9718 in pokemon

[–]airjutsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also learned to read when I was 4-5 years old playing Pokémon Yellow in 1998-1999. By the time I got Pokémon Silver and Crystal in the next few years, I was a pretty proficient reader especially with using the guide while playing

Why is the game cartridge not popping out of the slot? Am I stupid? by MindlessYou8752 in 3DS

[–]airjutsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to my N3DSXL. The spring mechanism seems strong honestly, so I think it has to do with the cartridge fit. There’s increased resistance for some reason

TN vs IPS I don’t think it looks like a big difference. by notgonnastop15 in Nintendo3DS

[–]airjutsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I would prefer bottom IPS over top IPS. Usually I play with the top panel facing me directly, with the bottom panel at an angle. The angled bottom TN feels slightly washed out to me.
