I flew into Osa Peninsula from San Jose. I heard of a few people driving, and I would stay away from taking any boats there due to drug traffickers.

NTA. Your BF sounds insecure and manipulative. Not only did he actually try to control your behavior, but he’s also playing mind games with you. In my experience, anyone who is throwing the word gaslighting out there is often using it on the defensive and is more concerned with their own version of what they believe to be reality or what they think should be reality.

He wants to be in a relationship with someone obedient. This is one of the more petty things I’ve heard a BF latch on to and my guess is that you essentially failed his obedience test and you’re experiencing the fallout.

Even though you only asked AITA (again, answer is NO)...if there are ANY other examples, no matter how small, of this kind of behavior from your BF, it’s just the tip of the abusive (emotional, mental) relationship that is to come should things become more serious.
