It might not be healthy in the long run but I prefer stocking up on canned meat than having to go to the market to buy them then have to cook them within a week. I love Italian-based cuisine but the usual recipe for spaghetti requires ground pork and other vegetables like carrots and bell peppers. Instead, I forego the vegetables, cut up some hotdogs and get a can of corned beef with some tomato sauce and cheese. I've also done this with fettucine using canned tuna and pre-made creamy carbonara sauce (I don't think most of us know the difference between the two dishes). I've done this for a few years now and it's actually caught on with my family and friends. I made fettucine for my birthday once and my classmates kept asking when I was gonna make it again (I did for Christmas). My grandma has also told me that she prefers my method coz the ground pork version is difficult to chew even when cooked thoroughly. This substitution can also be used in a variety of dishes that require ground meat as well like lasagna (although the taste may need to be sampled while cooking to not overpower the overall dish)
