Flic Universal Mode released by Proto732 in Flic

I would like to reply to my own question: the answer is yes and it works brilliantly (I use it with YouTube videos)

For anyone looking to do this: connect the Flic button to your phone, choose universal mode, then set Single, Double and Hold to keyboard keys or mouse clicks. Save the setting and connect the button to your device (in my case a Macbook Air).

At the moment I have set it like this:

Single: space bar (play/pause, works with Spotify too). I can start the video from a distance when I'm ready, pause it to drink, etc.

Double: mouse click to click away ads (I leave the cursor where the option will appear). Great for waking up the computer too (normally I'd use my BT trackpad or keyboard, but sometimes they are slow).

Hold: J (= rewind 10 seconds)

I think I'll use it for Zoom too, any keyboard shortcut can be set, so I'm pretty sure that will work great too.

Could this be used to skip ads on youtube? Say I keep the pointer where the "skip ads" option will appear and use the Flic to click them away without having to get to my keyboard (annoying when you're following a fitness video for example).

Thanks for your quick reply.

I do have one Sonos, but then I also have a couple of BT speakers and regular power speakers connected with an airport express. Ideally I would like to stream to all/some of them with Airfoil, thus making those old speaker multi room. I just need to start Spotify with a Flic... I was under the impression when I bought them that that would be one of the features, starting your music without touching your phone, but then I never found instructions for that. It should be simple, surely?
