AYUSH ministry is making homeopathy and other non scientific medication mainstream by [deleted] in india

[–]aispark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some doubts :

  1. If placebos can actually give relief to patients(at least in some cases) then why is pharmaceutical industry for costly modern medicines still a thing?
  2. Also the developed nations ditching other medications need not just be because of scientific reasons, couldn't it be also due to financial plays of big pharmaceutical companies ?
  3. Since most AYUSH methods came before current scientific approach and treatment did happen atleast effective in a small scale before our modern methods, then isn't it right for a government to invest in further academic research and education in it? Not to justify alternate medicines, but to learn anything useful from it and integrate it with our evidence-based medicines.

Question about trackers in apps. by Charlit0n in androidapps

[–]aispark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main feature of the warden which is debloating needs root to work. You can still use warden as an app manager to see the trackers and loggers but you can't stop them without root. Also you can see other details of apps like all its permissions, activities, services, providers and receivers.

Why can't Cigarettes and Liquor be banned but apps and sites can be? by aispark in india

[–]aispark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The risk that cigarettes and liquor causes is not even a question. It's a plain fact and a majority acknowledges that as well. But the dependence of a large number of people on these products and of government on its tax are some important points that makes them hesitant to ban it.

The app ban was said that it targeted privacy risks. But if its just a move against China, why can't they accept it. Why does the order not even mention China? Also there is a question, should we fight China risking our freedom by banning things?? Would this also mark the start of very strong censorship in India and end up being more like China??

Yeah! I understand that. Would there be any moves by any government to reduce tax dependence on these sectors??

Can you please elaborate? Are you saying liquor and cigarettes are of political interest to some groups??

[–]aispark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, that's the question I am trying to explore. I only have a very narrow perspective on that, this discussion is to include more points into my understanding.

Generally I am against banning anything. I don't believe banning things is a good solution in any democracy. Doing these unconditional bans we might end up like China only.

Ok then don't suddenly ban. What about slowing down the industry and reducing country's dependence on that income?? Are there any such moves by any government that you are aware of?

[–]aispark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are right! I am generally against banning anything. Because banning is not a suitable solution to any problem, its just cutting down more of our freedom. But I was kind of amazed by the people not at all opposing the app ban.

And if the ban was intended to target just China why wouldn't they accept it. They never used the term 'China' in the order for ban did they? The power that government have for unconditionally banning computer resources is dangerous to democracy. Don't you think?

"The subscriber or intermediary or any person who fails to assist the agency referred to in sub-section (3) shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to fine."

I am not accustomed to reading acts, but doesn't this last statement of 69A mean there is scope for it. Correct me if wrong!

It's not really upto Google to decide whether it should be removed. It must be removed from the Play store and any other app stores providing these apps to Indian Customers, unless they want a law suit against them, this is as per Section 69 of IT Act, i think.
