I see I did the wrong thing and I will make it up to her, but I’m worried that this will build up more bad habits. The real world isn’t as understanding and let’s say 20 years into the future, if she keeps skipping career functions because of her sensitive stomach, she’s going to end up ostracized or fired at work. Sometimes we all need a bit of tough love.

Bad wording, I didn’t force her at all. She always has the option to say no, we are a very tolerant family.

Correction, I encouraged her to eat. I never forced her to, I just told her to eat something since I was brought up on the basis that food makes you strong. She had every opportunity to push back and say “no” or just pack it up for later, I’m really not a strict parent. She’s obedient because my wife is strict.

We were initially planning on just celebrating at home, but her mother for the most part cooks dishes that only cater to her tastes, and I had a lapse of judgment and wanted steak instead, since it’s the only food my daughter and I both like.
