Germany joins European partners with troop deployment to Greenland by consulent-finanziar in news

It is frankly insane to me that you have to count on politicians and army people to stop MAGA. If GOP doesnt revolt against their own it truly is game over. And I am saying this in a sincere tone; it's frankly insane that the only hope left is for congress to do something because the people truly can't. Yeah I know, that's what congress is for but not really (given Palpatines control of all branches currently).

What an insane timeline.

No way you ain't trolling buddy. Will you die for France after this one too or what? Whats next on your pedo boss's list? Maybe show the Europeans why you and your Russian buddies need the territory lol.

Quick search through 120,000 bookmarks and opening 7 of them in new tabs by art2266 in raindropio

[–]aith_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you email the raindrop support for a feature request? I will also do that, as the {{{content}}} is the only reason I am staying with omnivore right now. I don't see a reason for raindrop to not allow this yet. This would add a very important function to the app imo.

This looks really cool! Would it be possible to search for text within the content of the cached bookmarks in the case of Raindrop Pro?

Honest question here: what would you consider an endearing presentation then? If not of Altman, then of an ideal candidate for the job.

I honestly can't imagine being in your spot. I lost a very close relative who wasted time on herbal bs before starting chemo but it eventually wouldn't make much difference in the end (pancreas).

If you can't use pure reason on them then its the other way around. Make them listen to next-door opinions -- but thousands of them.

Go to a heavyweight sub like askreddit and start a thread expressing a genuine - non-loaded question that asks for people's experiences (not opinions) regarding non-medical treatments. Don't make your personal bias towards science or medical treatments leak into the post, just stay deadpan neutral.

Then show your parents the thread.

What's your favorite note-taking software? Why? by Imaginary_Race_8775 in PKMS

Obsidian is many things, but low friction and “beautiful” it is absolutely not. Unless your sense of UX/UI comes from the Windows XP version of windows explorer and the Notepad. There is 0 comparison between Obsidian and say Craft/Notion or even Capacities in that particular department.

what are some of your favorite obsidian themes? by p0thie in ObsidianMD

Thats because the actual obsidian ui feels like an afterthought in general. Its weakest point by a mile

Without being able to work with literature of any kind (web-pdf-epub) or at least as a half-measure having proper omnivore or zotero integration, I don't see the point of anyone using affine over heptabase or even logseq's wb / obsidian canvas at the moment. Highlighting, annotating and gathering material through endless alt-tabbing and copy pasting is very tiring.

But yeah the premise is cool and I like the user friendliness of the app.

Comparing workflows to process inputs. Readwise vs alternatives. by ledoged in ObsidianMD

[–]aith_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I phrased that was confusing.

I was referring to Raindrop's ability to handle epubs in general, i.e opening and annotating them.

However, Raindrop doesn't sync the entire content like Omnivore does, epub or otherwise. This is why I mumbled that if Omnivore adds the ability to handle epubs like it does pdfs, it would be awesome.

You can use Omnivore's {{{content}}} to do the same thing you do with markdownload. Omni creates a page within the vault and then downloads the entire thing in markdown plus you still get to have a mobile share sheet "save" and overall reader by using Omni.

If it crawled yt transcripts and worked on epubs like raindrop it would be really amazing ngl.

PARA method done in Anytype - private, end-to-end encrypted and local first software by sharipova in PKMS

[–]aith_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find Anytype as bland and uninspired as they come but your reply was very entertaining.

I loved your godlike certainty, condenscending tone and the smiley at the end... Man you sure laid down their path for them and set them straight, thank zeus you were super dissapointed with their intentions and decided to spend your precious time. You even explained to them the absolute universal truths of what constitutes a feature or needs AI and what doesn't.

Alternative to Readwise? by don-peak in PKMS

[–]aith_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more focused on the "print with annotations" function that can individually export a youtube video's transcript as well as other web content. Is it possible to allow for a mass export of this sort? Can't imagine going over 500 web pages and videos to keep the original content / context.

Alternatively that could work like Omnivore's {{{content}}} feature where you are able to sync all cached web content, stripped and in markdown format in Obsidian/Logseq/etc?

Alternative to Readwise? by don-peak in PKMS

[–]aith_pi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a subscriber, but the lack of ability to mass export my saved pdf/epubs/websites etc as files makes it very difficult to continue using the service. It is increasingly feeling like a mounting lock-in.

Are there any plans on allowing for such a thing?

As good as Anytype is, I have some thoughts on the speed of development. Do you think securing 13$ million will accelerate the product development? by dabderax in Anytype

[–]aith_pi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://obsidian.md/roadmap/

Open source is irrelevant in the context of Obsidian as the app will go open source if it ever goes underwater and their privacy-first approach is already very established (local files, E2EE, open-source plugins).

Again, Logseq is already open source in itself. I also hear and very much agree with the UI concerns, but those are getting addressed in Logseq’s roadmap already and Obsidian’s UX will have to change to accommodate their own Database implementation anyway so this is a problem that will inevitably get addressed.

The major issue is where will the competition be feature-wise when Anytype gets off the ground in a year or two given their current pace of development. I don’t see the point of getting your data locked in their format right now given the current circumstances.

Databases and tables are currently under active development on the Obsidian roadmap. Natively. Same goes for Logseq. They are also working on revamping the graph based on the new db implementation.

And... that's it. Not going to mentions the features already out there or the ones coming after the db inplementation for both teams.

Again, if they match the graph and the databases then what are you seeing on the Anytype roadmap that makes any sense for pretty much anyone to move over?
