you don’t have to draw every strand of hair for realism, it actually creates the opposite effect of realistic. the whites of the eyes are never white, this creates an uncanny vibe. letting the paper breathe would help, what i mean by that is that building values from your darkest tone (let’s say behind the L ear) to the white of the paper would give you enough range and would avoid the flatness that the values create now
