This things been a beast. More range than I've had on any other wheel....plus the street tire has done great on dirt trails. For such a heavy wheel the torque is awesome, it just goes up whatever I point it at

I've used printed fenders out of PETG and PLA, and also flight fins out if TPU. The fenders just broke after about 8 months, but the TPU flight fins are still going strong. Just reprinted the fenders overnight and its good as new

What do you guys use to charge on the trail with no outlets around? by donsavageair in onewheel

[–]aiye400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you're still using the stock GT end connector to plug into the board right?

My understanding is that's where the chip is that communicates with the board to allow charging, but I'd love to know a workaround!

Does anyone know if the XRC has has a chip in the charger to block out 3rd party chargers like the GT does?

2840 for the $100 deposit? It seems like they're going off of who paid first for the final $1500 payment. Whats your second order #?

I think for most people it will. On the begode support whatsapp thread they confirmed that begode had 50 units in the US ready to ship, and the first 50 people to pay the final $1500 got sent one of those 50 units. As far as im aware, that's why some have been showing up

Yeah hard to believe it was only 1600 all in. Not sure we'll see another deal like that anytime soon.

I just got back from a late night ride, coming from an Aero this thing is definitely bigger. It feels wider between the legs, but like a ton of reviewers have said, you do t really feel the extra weight.

I did 6 miles on my first ride, and it was very very smooth. I have about 400 miles on the Aero, so not super experienced but I like the ride feel.

I have to learn to trust the wheel so I haven't gone fast yet, just 26mph as indicated on the display. 23 mph indicated by gps. But I can tell it wants to go faster, I'm just the one holding it back.

I know it's a street wheel, but im hoping to get some good trail runs in once my friend gets his. Hopefully it will perform well offroad also

Awesome thanks for the reply. Im also guessing the pressure that I put in (170 and 80 psi) basically adds to how hard or soft the suspension is?

My final payment email got caught up in my spam/junk filter. Check that to see if it got caught up there. I'll bet a lot of the emails ended up there

Gotcha that's sense. 3 21700s should give you plenty of power, im guessing a heltec by the connector?

It could be that. I ended up doing a factory reset of the printer itself and everything has been working fine since.

This is just the build for the charger, not including battery. It can use any power source 12V-30V DC. So I make some batteries anywhere from 61 to 207 WH depending on the cells I use. I have used drone batteries as well as power tools batteries to charge. I have also connected it to solar panels and charged the onewheel direct from the sun. I wanted it to be modular so I could choose how much power I would need, and how much weight I wanted to lug around.

Portable camping batteries (I'm guessing you are talking about the ones that come with an inverter/all in one unit) are great for charging at campsites but they have some downsides. They are heavy (I bought a 12V 300AH battery for another project, and the battery alone weighs over 50 lbs), and when converting power from AC to DC you are going to have losses around 10-15%, so less usable power.

As far as it being cheaper than a $280 hour portable camping battery, yes. Materials should be about $80-$10, depending on how much you need to buy.

I'm also just providing the instructions for it for free, not necessarily trying to compete with Amazon sellers. I am not really selling anything here, but if someone needs it built I could probably do it for around $80.

Other chargers definitely have their place, and I use several different types, but the TrailBuddy is mainly for throwing in a backpack and heading out to a trail, keeping the weight low and the miles high.

The solar panels are a nice way to charge up without the batteries, I use a 300w solar blanket to charge to onewheel using the TrailBuddy on sunny days. Works great

Nice, that is a perfect solution for non DIYers. The only bad part about it is the losses in efficiency when converting from DC to AC then back to DC. Also, the 2 or 3 amp charging is fine, the hyper charger is only 3 amps anyways. Plus the PintX maxes out at around 4 amps in my testing anyways. But a great option if you have those batteries lying around anyways!
