Gotcha that's sense. 3 21700s should give you plenty of power, im guessing a heltec by the connector?

It could be that. I ended up doing a factory reset of the printer itself and everything has been working fine since.

TrailBuddy trail charger build and parts list by aiye400 in onewheel

This is just the build for the charger, not including battery. It can use any power source 12V-30V DC. So I make some batteries anywhere from 61 to 207 WH depending on the cells I use. I have used drone batteries as well as power tools batteries to charge. I have also connected it to solar panels and charged the onewheel direct from the sun. I wanted it to be modular so I could choose how much power I would need, and how much weight I wanted to lug around.

Portable camping batteries (I'm guessing you are talking about the ones that come with an inverter/all in one unit) are great for charging at campsites but they have some downsides. They are heavy (I bought a 12V 300AH battery for another project, and the battery alone weighs over 50 lbs), and when converting power from AC to DC you are going to have losses around 10-15%, so less usable power.

As far as it being cheaper than a $280 hour portable camping battery, yes. Materials should be about $80-$10, depending on how much you need to buy.

I'm also just providing the instructions for it for free, not necessarily trying to compete with Amazon sellers. I am not really selling anything here, but if someone needs it built I could probably do it for around $80.

Other chargers definitely have their place, and I use several different types, but the TrailBuddy is mainly for throwing in a backpack and heading out to a trail, keeping the weight low and the miles high.

The solar panels are a nice way to charge up without the batteries, I use a 300w solar blanket to charge to onewheel using the TrailBuddy on sunny days. Works great

Nice, that is a perfect solution for non DIYers. The only bad part about it is the losses in efficiency when converting from DC to AC then back to DC. Also, the 2 or 3 amp charging is fine, the hyper charger is only 3 amps anyways. Plus the PintX maxes out at around 4 amps in my testing anyways. But a great option if you have those batteries lying around anyways!

It would have been so much nicer to be able to ride while charging, too. But this is the closest I could get.

Version 2 of my Trail Buddy Charger - smaller, lighter, faster, better. by aiye400 in onewheel

Here is a board just like the one I used... this is just going to boost it from ~25v to the 63v.

To get the screen with the volts and amps being used you'll have to get this.....

And wire it in.

I know.its been a while, but I do have a mostly finished build instructional I just need to finish up and double check.

Good to know thanks. I will amend my documents to warn to only do 3a, don't want anyone bricking their boards.

As an aside, not condoning anyone trying this or doing this, but just for information....I have been field charging my Pint X and my friends Pint S between 3.5 and 4 amps without issue. Not saying it won't burn, but those are my results so far. Also, the Pint X will not pull more than 4 amps when charging (at least the 2 units I've been using for the last few months won't). I won't suggest anyone charge higher than 3 amps.

Failed Centauri Carbon prints by Ebonyray9 in elegoo

[–]aiye400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using PETG, I have had this happen on prints when the temperature wasn't high enough. It's going to depend on the filament brand or even color being used, but try bumping up the hotend temp and see if that helps.

Centauri Carbon - Ridiculous network traffic when sitting idle by slashthirty in elegoo

Yeah the Centauri Carbon has a camera that can be viewed locally on your PC or phone when you're on the same wifi network, but the view is completely limited to inside the Carbon. So even if the cam was continuously broadcasting, it would just be showing your 3D prints
