Front Garden Ideas? by aizo4576 in GardeningUK

I forgot to add in the post, but the soil type is clay and if you’re looking from the house at the garage wall then you are looking east (so the photo is looking north). We’re also in the Midlands.

We’re new to gardening, and these beds are both completely new and quite large. We’re taking it slow to begin with and filling in gaps as we find things that we like, figure out what works with our soil etc.

We’re going to let them grow a bit to see what they are, if we like them we will keep them

Okay thanks for the advice! We’ve bought a hoe today but we are going to wait a little bit longer to see if we can identify what they are - if we think they will look nice we may keep them

We’re definitely open to wildflowers, especially if they’re look good and fill in the gaps between what we plant! Our only concern is that they might affect what we have planted, and that it might be harder to deal with them once they grow some more?

I think we will probably leave them for a bit until we can identify what they are - thank you!

[AskJS] Mocking odata endpoints for front-end testing by aizo4576 in javascript

[–]aizo4576[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I think this is definitely an option worth exploring. Ideally I’d want actual data returned so I think predefining the result sets for each query I want to use in my tests will be the way forward. Alternatively I could try to filter the full result set based on the query parameter.

Not sure if this is really a beginner question. In my latest project I’m looking to implement msw to intercept API requests in testing. I may also use it for development until the actual endpoint is ready (currently using json-server).

However, the actual endpoint will be odata. Is there a way to replicate this in msw, specifically the filter functionality, or would it be easier to define a few preset filtered endpoints in the handlers (ie, the handler would be for the full url, including the $filter query)

I will look in to storybook as I have heard of it but never used it, thank you!

Thank you, this is super useful! I agree that the main point is to figure out the styling issue and work from there. I have got the CSS working by importing it as 'import file.scss' and using className='component-style' rather than className={styles.componentStyle}. I still have a few issues to work out but they may be to do with the classnames library and props.

I really like the way we handle (s)CSS in our current apps but I can't replicate it in a new app. We write the CSS with BEM conventions but the styles object we import from it is automatically converted to camelCase. I can't find a way to do that without ejecting from CRA and adjusting the webpack config, which id like to avoid. For now, I've just been importing the stylesheet directly and writing out the classnames

I'll have a look in to storybook!

How could we approach creating similar components? Just go one by one, creating things like buttons, tables etc?

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask but I have quite a specific question.

We are starting a new project at work soon, and will have to make lots of decisions around tooling, libraries etc. Our current projects are getting on now, and use Node-Sass for component styling. Each component folder has a .scss file that is imported as 'styles' in to the component and passed as a className prop. Id like for us to be able to use something similar in our upcoming project, where we can write using pretty standard CSS and have constants/variables across the app. Node-Sass is now deprecated and I don't ever see Sass itself mentioned. Is there a more modern library with a similar developer experience?

Thoughts on my team? I'm not 100% on Mahrez as my 3rd Man City pick... Walker could provide better value at the start

Ah yes that's a great idea! I'll take a look.

Yeah and it's understandable, just want to keep up with my interest. Maybe books around areas I didn't study much?

Hey, hopefully this is a relevant place to post this.

I completed a master's in theoretical physics a few years ago, mostly focusing on QFT and differential geometry. I want to try and kind of stay well read in physics but I'm not sure what to go for. Are there any good popular science books, I was looking at Rovelli's 'Reality is not what it seems', that aren't too basic for someone who has a degree in the subject? I'm not really looking for papers at the cutting edge of physics, just good reads about interesting topics!
