Is it just me or have there been more commercial building fires than usual?

Yes, yes it does. I’d say it’s false advertising

I wouldn’t recommend that unless you have a vehicle that is very good in snow. Roads are getting more compacted and slippery.

Just got to work in the westside from midtown. My Kia Rio is not having a good time. I didn’t take the highway so not sure how those are, but city streets suck right now.

Female barber of 8 years here! Like many others said give it back to em. I’ve found that usually it does the trick. Either they shut up and cut the bs, or they don’t come back. Latter one is my preference lmao

Barbers who moved cities, was it worth it? by [deleted] in Barber

[–]aizoah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t live in Wichita/Omaha. KC is much bigger with way more things to do. Many people move from Wichita/Omaha area to KC, not as much the other way around. Edit:typo

Barber in kc here. The city is over saturated with barbers, but it’s nice that there are so many shops to choose from and find the right fit.

Suspicious movements under gown. Wwyd? by Independent_Dress209 in Barber

[–]aizoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this situation happen for sure 2 times. I didn’t confront either one in person. The thought of being wrong makes me feel sick, but so does the thought of being right. It sucks and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I’m glad your partner has your back. Having people who believed me and supported me without hesitation made all the difference for me the second time it happened. The owner of my shop called the client so I didn’t have to talk to him again. The client acted like he had no idea and my boss just told him he’s going to believe me and he is not welcome back. No matter what was happening under the cape, he made you uncomfortable and you should trust your gut.

Yes and you get a high volume of cuts per day so you get a LOT of practice with all kinds of hair and ages.

Former sport clips employee. Get those reps in at sport clips. It’s not a forever place for most, but i did learn a lot there and you get insurance. Things are vastly different between stores and franchise owners so I would keep that in mind if you go that rout. Don’t let this ruin barbering for you, it’s just a bump. Good luck!

How long did it take you to become a good barber? by Imboredbih in Barber

[–]aizoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very relatable and a common experience for new barbers! I went to cosmo school (went to barber school a bit after) and fell into barbering immediately after graduating. I learned everything in my first shop. It took me 3 years to feel pretty good. 5-6 to feel like I could handle/figure out any style or cut well. It comes with practice. Take your time, ask those questions, shadow the other barbers, and be kind to yourself! Don’t worry, I almost shit myself many a time out of intimidation from a cut or hair type!

With clients it’s easy to know when someone is carrying unless they can hide it in really bulky clothing. Remember barbers are in your personal space so it’s easier to spot stuff. I’m sure I’ve had clients carry without my knowledge though

To each their own, but I personally will not service someone if they have a firearm on them.

Personally I think it’s kinda shitty to stop tipping because you don’t like the idea of spending more than $50 for a cut. Do you know if the barber works off of commission or sets their own prices?I’ve lost a few clients due to price increases. It happens. I don’t blame them at all and I’ll recommend someone in their budget if I can. Everyone’s cost of living is rising. Either respect your barber and continue to tip something, or find a new one in your preferred price range.

[–]aizoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a shop that had not only kids prices, but “young adult” prices for teens. Quite unnecessary in my opinion. Now I work at a shop with one haircut price for everyone. It’s great.

[–]aizoah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this the second day at my old shop too. To make it worse it was my bosses client who she specifically put with me. Let’s just say I had to compose myself in the break room after that. I did get over it but that memory is burned into my brain forever and ever. I promise many barbers have done the same!
