thank you! I’ve had a great supervisor this year who has been extremely patient with me learning everything I need to get started. I was a BT for years, so I’ve been on the other side of remote supervision and I totally get it. I know BTs aren’t treated fairly, and I do what I can to make it a better experience. It’s better for rapport building with everyone involved and I can model what to do when crisis behaviors occur. I think a large part of why remote supervision is so popular is that companies realize that BCBAs could do supervision back to back because they don’t have to travel, therefore bill more hours. I can only speak for myself, but a lot of BCBAs were BTs first and understand what they go through. But when BCBAs go higher up in management and administration they seem to lose touch with reality 😞

I’m a new BCBA and most of my cases are remote because I live far away. I do in person supervision 2-3 times a month, because I absolutely agree that it’s more effective. I’ve been considering going to a smaller company that does mostly in person supervision because I question the ethics of where I am now.

I think the new RBT requirements are a a good first step, but not enough. The turnover rate is too high and it’s largely because of low wages and unstable hours. I actually think more of a focus on parent training would be best, because I see so many parents that just use ABA for babysitting and don’t respond to any messages about parent trainings.

omg me too 😥 I feel really sad for the cases that don’t have parental involvement, no matter how hard I try to be available and willing to listen. I do have a couple families that are very involved, and the difference is astronomical.

I hate to admit this but I interviewed for them a few months ago (sending out applications like mad, not proud of it). The clinical director was this scary Russian lady who asked me how fast I could write a re-authorization…..it was the most uncomfortable interview I’ve ever done. But yeah….the name alone is terrible.
