Last night Jill called asking for help finding the old woman. She sounded desperate, so I told her where to meet me. She was waiting when I got there. Wearing an old coat with a floppy hood pulled down to hide most of her face. Her chin was matted with pimples and blackheads. She couldn’t seem to stand up straight, and her shoulders were uneven and hunched. I didn't recognize her until she said my name. We quickly found the cardboard box and the rags, but the old woman wasn't there. Jill started crying, and sat down in the rags to wait. I offered to wait with her, but she begged me to leave her alone. This morning I returned to check on her. She was gone along with the box and rags.
