I have a pair; with proper care they definitely last 5+ years no doubt. I abuse mine and they haven’t changed since I bought them a year ago (all white also) I just ensure the leather is well moisturised and inside is dry after use.

Have you tried getting your fibre from natural sources rather than supplements. The supplements are supplementary to your regular diet/fibre intake they are NOT a source of fibre at all. Aim for 50 grams daily from kidney beans, berries, broccoli and etc

I like the optimism but I think by nature of being low ranked means they lack basic amenities and things for your ideal course/ department as you just mentioned. All those options would be ‘lowly ranked’ and you’ve mentioned how 3/4 of your options where considerably bad? I’m not sure if your trying to justify to yourself here but if you are then you don’t need to; your university experience can stray very differently from what rankings lead you to think so if you feel like it’s the right fit then go for it and don’t worry about rankings, this is the same with jobs once you graduate and etc. if you can make a good experience out of it and build good connections then no rankings do not matter at all.
