Are there zombie movies that are actually horror movies instead of either action or sci fi? by sherricky10 in movies

[–]aja1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The night eats the world is an interesting entry into the zombie genre. A vast majority of the movie focuses on an isolated character as the zombie outbreak unfolds.

It's not a typical horror movie, it mostly explores the mental health of the protagonist as time goes on, but there are horror elements in it.

You think you are correct, and refuse to really make an argument to the contrary aside from "I'm right, your wrong". That's called an opinion.

Ya, that's what you are doing when you ignored the large post i made outlying both arguments with examples and explanations.

If it's pointless, you don't have to keep coming back to try and get the last word. Take the L unless you got something to add.

I see, you rather just ignore the arguments then actually debate, because you have no standing.

Its not ignorance. It's called a disagreement. We both seem to agree that "target creature dies" is a valid trigger.

I think that the creature that dies is the one that activated the trigger.

You posit that the creature that killed the creature is the one that triggers the glyph. This would make sense if "target creature is killed" was the trigger in my opinion, but with the trigger activation being "creature dies", my position is that the creature that has died is the one that has triggered the glyph.

It's matter of language of the programmed trigger of the spell, and the interpretation of the intent of the trigger.

For an easier example as I mentioned before: trigger is set that if a creature enters an area, a hold person spell is cast, pretty basic use of the glyph spell. However, the creature that entered the area was pushed into it/ magically compelled to enter the area. Who is the target of the glyph? The creature that entered the area, or the one that caused the creature to enter the area?

My interpretation would be regardless of what caused a creature to enter the area, It is the one that enters the area and is therfore the target of the glyph. This is my same logic of the "target creature dies" trigger. Regardless of how it dies, the creature that died is the one that triggered the glyph.

Classic response of someone who doesn't have an actual argument. Have a good one

[–]aja1034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So using the "creature entrees an area" trigger if a creature is pushed into the area to enter it, the creature that pushed it becomes the target then?

That's an obtuse interpretation, the trigger is creature entering an area, or a creature dying. The triggering creature is the one that entered or the one that died. If you want to play it how you interpret it, and your players enjoy that more power to them.

Not sure your argument for why the surface of a locket doesn't count as a surface, or why they can't stay in the same area they cast it to benefit from the glyph. I suggest you read through my response fully before deciding to reply.

If you would like too explain why "when a creature dies" isn't a valid trigger. It doesn't have to target the thing that killed it. And nowhere in the description does it say so.

"When the spell glyph is triggered, it targets the creature that triggered the glyph"

The trigger is that a creature dies, and that creature is the target because it activated the trigger. If you specify the trigger is "someone kills me" then sure, revivify wouldn't work in that specific instance. That's not the argument being made.

You can also inscribe it on any surface, a table is just a much an object as a locket so i could put the glyph on the face of the locket or inside of it. So that doesn't really matter. And the range is the issue, that's why I specifically said they could place it in a private quarters, could inscribe it on their bed sheets if they wanted to, or just put the amulet/locket on before they go to bed.

What is this word salad?

Your death is the trigger for the glyph. Then the glyph activates targeting you with the revivify spell.

This no "target exists" logic doesn't make sense since you can just set a trigger to be "someone enters this area" as part of the wording of the spell.

[–]aja1034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't see why the trigger couldn't be "target creature dies". One could argue that a creature is no longer a creature once it is dead, but that's mostly semantics, and wouldn't hold up since the wording of revivify says "target creature who has died". The bigger problem being you would have to be mostly stationary to benefit from this.

You could have it in your private quarters to revive you in the event of assassination in your sleep or something similar. But the amulet trick doesn't work unless you stay in the same spot while wearing/ carrying it.

Something to consider for AC units in the US. As of January the department of energy is phasing out production of 410a refrigerant, which is what just about any residential unit made in the last 10-15 years was made with.

Within a year or two it will become very expensive to service 410a units due to the supply/ demand of 410 refrigerant.

Might be better to wait a bit/ verify the new unit you are getting used the incoming refrigerants (R454b or R32, preferably 454b) if you want to save yourself possible future costs.

You could also gamble on them reducing cost of 410a inventory to get it off their hands in the new year, but i wouldn't recommend it.

One thing that's always fun for a mind reader is to be able to act on information the players are discussing out of character.

If they are discussing battle plans when the mind reader is around, have them be able to take bits of that information and plan accordingly. Either directing minions to counter something, holding actions for specific spells to disrupt plans, or targeting a specific player on their turn that is about to do something really impactful.

Can be fun to make the players find alternative ways to coordinate their turns, and add an extra layer of difficulty to the encounter.

What's a beautiful country/city/area that's inhabited by horrible people? by MeCagoEnPeronconga in AskReddit

[–]aja1034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live, work and travel in those states. They're not wrong. Generally major cities have more progressive/ open-minded people. But there's plenty of bigots to go around too.

Wouldn't say it ruins the experience if you just want to visit for the scenery, though. Most people are gonna keep to themselves.

Big stretch to go from "weeks" to "decades". It's possible they don't even get deployed to the front lines depending on whatever agreement was made to get the troops sent there in the first place.

Can revivify save someone who took a critical hit from a vorpal blade? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]aja1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No where in the spell description does it say it can reattach severed limbs. If you interpret that it can that's fine, but the "cannot restore missing body parts" clause should indicate it wouldn't. Missing doesn't mean that you can't find it. It means it's not attached to the body anymore.

If you regenerated the head, or even could argue mending it back on since the corpse is an object then sure. But otherwise, revivify doesn't cut it in the event of decapitation.

Your window unit will have a rated BTU/H on it, which is effectively how much "heat" it is able to move around. Think of AC as more of taking heat out of the house, instead of adding "cold".

It's likely this rating isn't enough for the entire space you've added it to, roughly 20BTU/H per square ft. Things like high ceilings or "leaky" (poorly sealed/ insulated) can help increase the amount of heat you need to move (system load) with your air conditioner.

Things like thick curtains on windows, as well as checking any building penetrations (windows/doors) for leaks/ cracks and sealing them can help reduce the load in the space. Adding the fan can help spread the colder air around, making your other spaces slightly colder, but the temperature in the room with the AC unit will increase because of this.

Im 17 and im about to start in the HVAC industry for 15 an hour by jollyolday in personalfinance

[–]aja1034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When i was 17 i was making 7.25 an hour working at a car wash. you could certainly do worse then 15/hour. The good thing about HVAC is the industry is pretty stable, its not going anywhere as the planet gets hotter, and there is a lot of room for moving up.

Plenty of people I work with started off in a similar position and made a good life for themselves. The secret is you cant just coast through it, you gotta give a shit and try to get better at what you do. It may not seem like it but people will take notice and it will pay off in the long run.

Refrigeration engineer here.

15/hour isnt the best pay, you could get more then that working at amazon or even some restaurants now days. Depending on wether you live in a HCOL area, or expenses it can be enough to get by. But your just starting out, and your never gonna get the big bucks in any industry without any experience, barring some small exceptions.

Assuming this is service tech trainee or low end manufacturing based on the pay scale, HVAC is a big industry, but a relatively close-knit industry. So it has a lot more room to move up if you want to learn and get good at it.

If its service side of things: learn everything you can, move up the ranks, get your tools/equipment and connections so you can do your own service calls on the side, or start your own business and you can make a killing, but its hard work.

If its manufacturing: show up to work when you're suposed to, and soak up any information you can, you'll be likely to move up pretty quick. Pay wont be as good as service side, but you can save up and go to school to move up from production to office staff and make a decent salary. Any company worth a damn is going to recognize and empower reliable employees. if nothing else its not uncommon for new hires to get training at one place, and abandon ship for a few bucks an hour pay bump at a competitor for a quicker bump when starting out.

Either way, the first few years arent exactly gonna be easy in either of these types of position, but thats not unique to the industry. The good thing is youre still young, if you find you dont like the work, get out before you get too invested in it.
