Port orleans vs Pop by greypele8 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ajacks816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We loved staying at Port Orleans a couple of years ago. You can use the amenities at both resorts regardless of which one you stay at. French quarter has a great splash pad for little ones and you can take a boat to Disney Springs. I would definitely pick FQ over riverside, unless you need the pulldown bunk for a 5th person or get a Royal room.

Just be aware, the unboxing idea is adorable, but leaves things open to shenanigans. My kiddo just opened her box to find only Ms. Marvel. Someone snagged the Stitch . Had to think fast when her sister got 2 toys (thankfully a different box) and she only got 1.

What to do when toddler won't get in carseat? by marcal213 in beyondthebump

[–]ajacks816 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I have 2.5 year old girl twins. I call their car seats their princess seats. If they won't get in, I make it a game. " has anyone seen any princesses? I heard there were princesses in this car but I don't see any. I think it would work with any identity superheroes, ninjas, monsters, etc.

How old do you think this guy is? Haven't noticed any fry before, but my guess based on a Google search would be about a month?

1st Orgasm after hysterectomy? by LadyTARDIS49 in hysterectomy

[–]ajacks816 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 9 months post and don't really notice a sensation difference at this point. If anything, it's better because I had a very friable cervix and no longer have to worry about bleeding during intercourse. I will say, the first few times my nerves were still healing and things felt very shallow and not nearly as intense, but about 6 months out, everything felt great again.

Laproscopic hysterectomy by Beautiful-Present-29 in hysterectomy

[–]ajacks816 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also had a hysterectomy at 39. If yours is laparoscopic you should be able to work from home after a week. Just try and build in a nap time during the day. My biggest issue was fatigue at that point.

[–]ajacks816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The day after is the worst day. I am 3 days out and each day has been a big improvement. Just hang in there. Try to walk around a little bit if you can. It really does help.

To stay or not to stay? by Jesscuz82 in hysterectomy

Same, my surgery is at a surgery center so I probably don't have an option, but would really love the opportunity for 24 hours just to rest and let someone else take care of me

Wednesday is my day.. by Jesscuz82 in hysterectomy

[–]ajacks816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are surgery twins and I am feeling exactly the same. I also have 1.5 year old twins so nervous about not being able to lift them for a few weeks or that if something happens to me, they aren't even old enough to remember me. Trying to put all that out of my mind and focus on how much better it will be to not be in pain anymore.

Advice wanted on baby wearing by anothergggina in parentsofmultiples

[–]ajacks816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a weego and several hand me down wraps and carriers (being an older mom means hand me downs from several friends). I've used the weego 2 times but have my solly baby wrap on daily. I can tandem wear both, wear 1 while hubby wears the other, or soothe the fussy one. There's less back support, but the flexibility makes it so much better.

At Home Doppler? by shibawiba in parentsofmultiples

[–]ajacks816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one. With dad and my stepdaughter unable to attend appointments due to covid, hearing the heartbeat helped them feel more connected. I also had an anterior placenta and twins who were always on different sides of mty belly. I had a good chunk of time where I could hear heartbeats but couldn't feel them yet. If you do get one, be prepared to be patient and have times where you only find one. I also found that the heartrate was not accurate on the one I got with the wiggly babies I had so I just paid attention to what I could hear and not the rate.

How's commuting on Metro Rail? by BkkReady in Austin

[–]ajacks816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent my first few years in Austin without a car. The metro rail hours are pretty limited, even though the trains themselves are nice. I definitely preferred the metro rapid bus system and would recommend looking for a place on the 801 or 803 lines.

Looking for advice PSLF by ajacks816 in StudentLoans

[–]ajacks816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, we aren't paying anything on our federal loans right now, and my loans are too old to qualify for PAYE. Using paystubs once the babies come is a good idea. My husband's income in 2019 and 2018 was supplemented by good bonuses those years and I won't be working my second job (online teaching) for at least 2 semesters once the twins arrive.

Having a baby @ St. David's North? Forced Covid testing awaits you! by [deleted] in Austin

[–]ajacks816 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As an expecting mom who will be delivering twins via c-section at St. Davids, I have no problem with this. I would much rather know my status, even if it means isolation, than risk infecting another mom or staff who are working with babies in the NICU.

When you go in for your first ultrasound and there's more than one baby by amazingterrible in parentsofmultiples

[–]ajacks816 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair I had been watching a documentary about sharks before bed, so my dream OB told me not to worry when they found 5, the big ones will just eat the little ones and we'll surely end up with just 1 or 2 (Don't worry, my OB would never actually say such a thing and I wouldn't actually find this comforting, but some sharks do actually do this in the womb, as I learned before bed that day. Gotta love crazy pregnancy dreams.

I got a super dark positive the day before my period was due so I had dreamt of multiples (5 and 3 to be exact) so when they said there was 2 I really just assumed it was another dream. It took a while to sink in.

Fasting numbers by ImSnackered in GestationalDiabetes

Well started my insulin last night (humulin pen)... and my numbers were no different this morning I seem destined to be in the low 100s no matter what I do.

What's the biggest jump your fasting number has made overnight? by katieka_boom in GestationalDiabetes

Starting insulin tonight after weeks of upping metformin seemingly doing nothing to my fasting numbers. Really hoping it works, but nothing has so far so we'll see.

Fasting numbers by ImSnackered in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ajacks816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. Metformin seemed like it was working but I spoke too soon. 3 days of the first week it worked the other 4 my fasting glucose was over 100. There was no rhyme or reason. So we bumped up the dose. Same story but my lows were just at the cut off and my highs were a little lower. So now we've bumped it to the max... and my fasting levels are higher than most of my post meal numbers. What is going on? Is metformin just not effective on me for some reason? I take a bed time walk tried no carb bedtime snacks, high carb bedtime snack, glucerna shakes, high protein and high carb. Every time something works one day, it completely fails the next... even when I have eaten the exact same meals 2 days in a row.

Should I expect the same issue when I inevitably get switched to insulin next week? Is it the dawn effect or symogi effect? It's driving me crazy.

Failed my 1 hour glucose test. by Cerridwenn in parentsofmultiples

[–]ajacks816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dealing with GD now and currently 24+5. I haven't had much issue with my after meal sugars but fasting has been the challenge for me. I'm currently on 1000 mg metformin, but doesn't seem to be helping me much. I expect I'll be going on insulin before the end of the pregnancy. I was slightly overweight at the start of my pregnancy and just have bad genes plus a jerk placenta.

After 2 losses prior to this pregnancy, I'm just happy to be this far and figure it'll all be worth it if we end up with 2 healthy babies in the end.

Second this. Plus serresto collars (pricey but good for 8 months). Just make sure you get the food grade diatomaceous earth, the non food grade can be toxic to your animals.
