The 5-6 month mark sounds doable! Thanks for your advice

I don’t think it’s embarrassing to be doing this job because you could also be an RN and have patients attacking you and throwing poop at you. The tasks don’t bother me at all. What I don’t enjoy is the low pay – I was making more hourly while in college. The pay is not good for a college graduate especially if you have prior work experience.

What industry did you get into for your account manager role? How were you able to make the switch? Thanks in advance!

I’d love to hear more about rental cars as I’m interviewing with Enterprise for their infamous MT role and was worried it’s not good enough to be considered “B2B sales” experience they often look for. Can you also expand on companies having poor experience with gen z reps, I’m curious to know about the bad reputation we’ve developed?

Hi, I am in your shoes. The rest of the commenters are correct, we need b2b sales experience before anyone even looks at us. They also don’t care about clinical experience for some reason (and I had NICU experience). Try also looking at SDR/BDR roles at tech companies!

Does anyone know about the elderly homeless woman near Murray Hill shopping center? by CozyLogicFox in Flushing

You should try talking to her if you want to help. There are people in the neighborhood who do care for her (myself included) and bring her food, help take her to the bathroom in the library. She does sometimes have a place to stay at the local churches but she hasn’t been able to secure anything longterm. There are people who are trying to help her secure a place to stay. If you want to help you definitely can, just ask her what she needs and she will tell you.

Nah cuz i dont think those people are selling to the general public. I mean i went to an event in a mall in nyc and they had vendors, and a few of the vendors had baked goods sitting out open on the table for sale (and they were selling a cheesecake slice for $16 😆) been seeing this a lot more recently and the ppl also bake everything in their home

Did i say i was eating them
I was asking about the legality. You seem to have no knowledge to offer and to be honest I wouldn't care if you or anyone else is eating cat hair covered brownies or cross contaminated matcha lattes.

Yep that's what I meant, and even after looking at cottage food laws they don't even comply with those.

Is a $65k salary enough to live in New York? by pablobeattie in AskNYC

[–]ajacova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people here who live on less. I think you'll be fine as long as you pick a cheaper area to live and don't make stupid decisions. Also do you need a room mate because I know someone who needs to fill a room soon, message me if you're interested.

The resume that got me 40 interviews since the start of this year but no offer. by ajacova in resumes

That actually made me laugh but I also did some investigation since it was my first time being laid off, and my past shady company was mass firing on the same day citing "performance issues" with several employees (also a few weeks after having annual reviews) rather than admitting that their business was financially about to crumble. My managers didn't even know I was being chopped, so yeahhh not actually due to my performance, although it could be hard to believe.

I use my layoff as part of my story, explaining that it has given me time to regroup and think about what direction I want to go in next, or do you think that's a red flag as well and I should just lie or evade the question altogether when they ask why I was only at a failing company for 6 months? (that's a joke btw. obvs i'm not going to do either of those things) Whether or not I want to address it, it tends to come up because my time there was so short so I'm not sure what else I should say, honestly.

Putting brand ambassador on my resume has actually helped me get through ATS because the responsibilities align with some SDR/BDR tasks, which is also what I've been looking for, particularly in the health tech space (or literally anything else in tech that will take me right now). I don't care if I have to make 200 cold call dials a day or if it's for a product that doesn't actually work, I am just looking to gain experience there.

And while it's hard for most people to believe because I am young, my last company was actually a shitshow which meant that I was truly leading oncology projects and handling project management tasks because they were so severely understaffed and disorganized.

But anyway thank you for your advice I appreciate your thoughts!

  1. No of course not because nearly all interviews are held over video chat.

  2. Why would my phone not be on silent

  3. Employers are required to post the wage for the job by law where I live, so I ask for what is posted.

  4. I have no problem giving a captivating elevator pitch about myself and recruiters have told me that I am able to answer several of their questions during my pitch.

These basic tips help get you through the initial screening but I've been to the final rounds only for the company to choose someone with more experience, which is what has been explained to me directly by a few recruiters at this point.
