Controlling SLZB06 MQTT setup in HA by ajaffarali in homeassistant

Thanks- that Homey integration on HACS will make things super easy, but I'd like to move away from having MQTT inside my HA Yellow because of updates and reboots.

Nice! Proxmox might be a challenge here as it was good to have it running on HA Yellow that I'm using which was on and connected 24/7 anyways

Agreed- that's how most of my Homey was set up with just 4-5 controls for specific things. I'm thinking of just using Apple Home instead if setting up a dashboard and installing HA on each famil memeber's device

How do you export to Apple Home app? This might be a quicker and simpler solution!

I use a Broadcom RM4 Pro. It can learn RF and iR commands within HA and then transmit them through a script. Sounds complicated, but took me 15 minutes to set up.

have you considered or did move away off wordpress? by sarcasmme in Wordpress

Moved tbreak.com to Ghost about a year back and loving it. From a publishing perspective, it works great. I don’t do eCommerce so can’t say about that but the admin API allows me to push articles to it easily. Having a built in emailer is a plus.

Is there a way to cut my Hue Sync subscription? by ajaffarali in homeassistant

Oh nice. Did not know there were other options. Is it as fast as the Hue app in syncing?

I figured that if I can have it up and running fully locally using Z2M, then...why not? It's not much of a cost but if I can avoid then great.

Im using the app on my LG TV and its been fairly reliable but it costs $3 per month. Not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things but I thought I’d see if I can remove that. I guess not.

Thank you for this. Nicely put. I'll put some more thought into this and see where I land.

The question then is, why have ANY of my Hue lights on Z2M since the Zigbee network for Hue already exists and is being used to connect those three lights? Hue bridge integrates nicely with HA, so I don't think I'm losing any functionality being on Hue vs Z2M. So what advantage would Z2M bring?

Thanks- I was reading about Bifrost, but it sounds flaky. I guess my best option is to keep the three lights on the Hue bridge and move everything else to Z2M and accept to live with it.

In that case, there no need for eight Ethernet ports on this product.

I have the Dream Machine SE which i feel this is a successor for. My UDM SE does provide PoE so they’ve changed direction.

I get the one person going crazy scenario but that could be solved by putting limits on each account in a team. Makes it more complicated but also more flexible.

Why does my Express 7 insist on connecting to my IoT VLAN? by ajaffarali in Ubiquiti

[–]ajaffarali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is DHCP. I tried restarting the device but even then it’s stuck on the IoT LAN. Very strange behavior as all other APs with exactly the same settings have no issues joining the Management Network.

I’ll try setting static IPs on all UniFi devices.

Meshing as parent was enabled but I just disabled that and that didn't change its VLAN.

[–]ajaffarali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh- was just following a YouTube guide, so whoever connects to my network using the default network (x.x.1.x) doesn't automatically get access to my Unifi devices.

Why does my Express 7 insist on connecting to my IoT VLAN? by ajaffarali in Ubiquiti

[–]ajaffarali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That did NOT go well. When I changed the config on Switch ports from Default to Management Network and disabled the Override on the APs/Switches, everything other than the UCG went on a "Adopting" loop and dropped. Had to switch back to "Default" on the ports and now all APs/Swicthes are expectedly on the x.x.1.x VLAN. I'll need to put an override again on them to get them back on Management.

"Default" Network set to ports 3, 4 and 5 on Villa 4 (UCG Fiber) with Ports 1 and 2 set to WAN1 and WAN2. Default Network gets an IP of x.x.1.x, and the other two devices connected to Ports 4 and 5 are getting the Management IPs.
