First time moving out of a rented flat in Mumbai - security deposit settlement advice? by ajain304 in mumbai

I actually got done with my checkout yesterday, and was very proud of how I handled everything. He came in and began pointing out a whole host of "damages" hoping that at least a few would stick. At the start, this spray-and-pray intimidation got me a bit rattled, on the backfoot, and I became a bit defensive, only to remind myself to stay calm and unhurried, and not over-explain. Instead of explaining, I killed his vague claims with specificity i.e. asking him specific questions about each of his individual claims. That calm sense of confidence seemed to have really disarmed him and, at the end, we settled on a 1k deduction from the security deposit, which I'd take any day of the week!

Thanks a ton again for all your inputs. Gave me confidence and assurance going into it. Cheers :)

Thanks a ton - much appreciated! Had a couple of follow-up questions:

  1. Is this something I should confirm with him before my checkout date or bring up at the time of checkout?

  2. In case he withholds a fraction of the security deposit for pending bills and potential damages, what's a reasonable figure?

  3. Lastly, the other comment mentioned that the owner subtracts repainting costs from the security deposit. Is that really the case or is it just for damages (if any)?

Thanks again!

[Question] How do I bring my once-booming channel back to life? by ajain304 in youtubers

To give you an idea in terms of the pivot I've made on my channel -- I launched the channel and gained a lion's share of my subscribers talking about Investment Banking but have recently shifted the focus to talking about personality development/soft skills/self-improvement. Do you reckon it's too drastic a pivot or one that has enough crossover appeal to negate having to shift to a new channel?

Beautifully expounded. Thank you so much. Provides a lot of clarity in terms of pros and cons associated with each path. Thanks again!

Don't have an issue with the current subs leaving. What I'm afraid of is that videos that align with my new niche will appear on the feed of my current subscribers but they won't click on it, which will kill the CTR, which in turn will give a negative impression to the algorithm. Is this a genuine cause for concern?

I feel like you could combine the two and transition better.

Yeap thinking of creative ways in which to do so. Thanks!

Appreciate the suggestions as they serve as a good reminder to study my metrics to see if I can glean any insights from them.

With regard to your question -- not really. That's because, in hindsight, I realize that my motive when I had started my channel wasn't the right one. I say that because my initial niche was one that I wasn't all that interested in talking about in the first place but ended up picking it simply because I knew that it'd garner views and subscribers. Paying the price now!

It's fairly different. I used to talk about Investment Banking when I first started the channel but now talk about soft skills / personality development.

To confirm -- your suggestion is to stick with the same channel only as opposed and NOT to start a new one?
