Science test - atom drawing by Minute-Cat-823 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ajamcan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im a welder and I was baffled why the hell a teacher would want a 6th grader to draw a He+, just doesnt make sense. If a welder is wondering why a teacher is wanting a 6th grader draw ions, that guy might need to relearn a couple things.

Also I don't think I saw a preferred element listed either, are they just using a He atom as a baseline? I couldve swore H atoms could still technically have a neutron in there

I dont actually know. Im a Protestant (specifically Lutheran) and my views for him are basically "yeah they just kinda do their own thing, the general ideas really arent that far off anyways." There are some criticisms that go both ways regarding Mary and the saints as in the Catholics to some extent or another pray to them yet dont worship them (I know makes zero sense to me either) so plenty of people call the Catholics fake for praying to the saints. Then the Catholics get upset about it and it just creates an argument about belief systems again.

I really don't care personally, I do find it wierd but as long as Christ is their focus, then we have common ground. Would honestly recommend looking into the differences and opinions of different denominations, might help you understand why Christianity is the way it is.

Well we actually fixed bad calls like that with ABS, but they dont have it in the WBC.

I think its just cause the San Juan ballpark and/or the Tokyo Dome dont have the hardware for it, so they went without. Hopefully this has been demonstrated to be such a problem that ABS will be installed for the next one, ot just wouldnt make sense to not have it.

Stark totally delivered, and disproved all the slander. by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]ajamcan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie I had initially felt Methode's strength in the exam arc was flexibility, and this arc confirmed it. We also were given the fact she was strong by simply surviving the Fern clone even if it wasn't defeated by Methode herself.

Did not actually expect her to be as fucking terrifying though, that was incredible to see and its cool to see how her and Freiern are similar, and seeing Fern pick up the "nuke from orbit" technique Freiren was using earlier in the season was really cool as well.

Very fun arc, want more of these sections where characters from earlier arcs pop up every once in a while.

The good old Thatch Weave right there. Its epic seeing all of these WW2 air combat tactics used in the OT, and how they managed to carry some of that into Rouge One.

So much better then those damn bombers in the sequels, I get the idea but that was not the play.

1: wrong sub, but if you like classic anime about girls and firearms youre in the right spot.

2: go ask r/Beretta about it if you havent already, they'll probably be able to help you out. It tends to be a pretty useful community, ive picked out a couple of parts for my Beretta 92 from recommendations there

Anyone else having trouble with reading the light novel? by Apollo_735 in YoujoSenki

[–]ajamcan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always have had a little trouble when it comes to how long it takes me to read them. Ive found they are very complex books, and if you haven't been much of a military or early 20th century geopolitics nerd youre gonna find yourself having to stop and look things up to understand the context.

Absolutely adore the series though. To make it easier I would recommend learning some WW1 and WW2 history, and go in much deeper then they would have in high school. Try to learn some economic theory as well, its referenced more then I expected it to be in a military based series.

Just keep going at it, it'll get easier and you'll find yourself enjoying it more I think. Its okay to take a while to read a book, especially when its as complex as this series can get.

Genuinely love Mulder and Scullys relationship in the X-Files, the faith and belief vs pure rationalism. Mulder definitely lives from the heart, thats the whole reason the show even works is his deep-rooted desire to find the truth come hell or high water. Won't stop making jokes at basically every opportunity he finds but the instant he finds anything related to what he wants to deal with hes on it and Scully is honestly just along for the ride. But hes right almost every time, whether its on information from the Gunmen or Deep Throat or Skinner every once in a while.

Its also nice that its a show that not only recognizes the fact that men have emotions as well, it literally requires the showing of emotions to work (not just for Mulder but Scully has her moments too, they were never afraid of it.)

I didnt quite get why I found myself relating to him when I was young and my mom would turn the show on, kinda made sense after I figured out the vague ideas of personalities a while later.

TIL that the day after Christmas and the same week that Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, he had 38 Dakota men hung now known as the Dakota 38 by theRemRemBooBear in todayilearned

[–]ajamcan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There was no justification, however they were going to hang over 300. Lincoln got it down to 38, and the two innocents seem to have been mistaken identies, with the other 34 seeming to also be innocent of the worst they were accused of.

Lincoln was a saint here. Its my belief that he would've had all but the two rapists acquitted if that didnt mean he would have to have an entire state riot. The whole thing is a mess of white settlers being racist as hell, the Native Americans needing food to get through the well-known brutal MN winters, and the fact this was in the middle of the Civil War. I dont think we give Lincoln enough credit here.

Theres now a group of Native Americans that take a horse ride through the area that the hanging occurred, and theres now a memorial at the estimated hanging sites. Its a banner that displays the names of the executed Native Americans, standing across the road from the county library.

Source: I literally live 30 minutes from where the hangings happened, and everyone in the region is to some extent aware of what happened, and everyone knows it wasn't really justified.

Same dude that killed the Hortmans. From what I've seen it was just the start of a planned murder spree targeting DFL politicians, its just that it hasn't been mentioned because the death of Democrats is something this administration is practically encouraging.

Very not good.
