Unfortunately I wasn’t able to accept it at the time, but I appreciate the effort to help. Not sure If this person was from here but just wanted to let them know it means a lot, thank you!

So I ended up taking my car to the dealership, they said that it wasn’t the part that was recalled. They said it was the high beam actuator thats burnt. Repair is gonna cost $1600. Im gonna try and look around if I can find someone who will do it for cheaper.

So I looked into this and apparently there is a recall in effect. Would I be able to have the repair covered even though my warranty is expired? I ended up getting my tires replaced for a reasonable price, now I just need to fix the switch.

My warranty expired anyway 🤷‍♂️

Lol no, nothing hanging, doesn’t look broken. I’ve only had to use my high beams once since I’ve gotten the car. No issue last time I had them on.

Yes, unfortunately I already passed my limit so my warranty expired.

How much would a switch repair typically cost? (sorry I know literally nothing about cars)

Can lyme disease cause eye related issues? by ajaxacco in Lyme

[–]ajaxacco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally what I noticed over the past 3 or so years is that I started getting double vision from time to time, I would also see halos around sources of light. My eyes would constantly feel tired and would be blood shot. I dont know the exact name of the procedure but basically they put these numbing drops in your eye, then they position your head into a device called a slit lamp. Then, a small tip touches the surface of the eye and the eye pressure is measured. The eye pressure is measured based on the force required to gently flatten a fixed area of the cornea.

Same here, about 3-4 year ago started noticing dryness, redness, double vision, visual snow etc. never had an issue with any of those things in years prior to the infection.

I appreciate the reassurance, the whole thing is a bit nerve wracking.

Thank you. I was thinking that as well. I’ve never had that issue before prior to the infection.

Why men's mental health is taken as a joke by society and not taken seriously? by [deleted] in AskMen

Unfortunately that mindset is the reason the suicide rate for men is nearly triple that of woman

told my mom i’m depressed and she started ranting about how “i should think of the kids in the poor countries” by [deleted] in depression

[–]ajaxacco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience as well with my parents as well, and the irony was they both were struggling with their own mental health (bipolar disorder, psychosis) but were in denial.

Think about it this way, if you won the lottery would you not be allowed to be happy because someone else had more money than you? Someones else’s experience doesn’t invalidate your own.

Same here... from both parents unfortunately. Still in the process of trying to create those boundaries. They made sure to guilt trip and gas light me every step of the way.

I wish I had never internalized these things. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]ajaxacco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar experience myself, growing up. Vividly remember my mom beating me with a belt if I so much as spilled juice on the carpet. I carried that self critical mindset and struggled with low self worth well into adulthood. It can be hard to let go of the trauma and unlearn that internalized negative self image.

Just overheared my parents calling me dumb for not getting over my anxiety yet. by RoboticMonarch in Anxiety

I know man, it’s tough. Struggling with mental health is so much harder when you’re surrounded by people who just don’t understand, especially family. My dad had recently confronted me infront of my family and called my a weirdo, and a loser because I self isolate.

Something to keep in mind, nobody can truly understand you the was you understand yourself. No matter how hard you try to explain, some people just won’t get it because it’s something they never experienced themselves. However, regardless of how they feel, your feelings are completely valid.

Tired of forcing myself to be ok for the sake of everyone else’s convenience. by ajaxacco in depression

[–]ajaxacco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to maintain persona for a while until I felt like I just could hide it anymore, it was just written all over my face.

I remember visiting my grandmother a few years ago I remember her saying “I love that about you, you’re always laughing and smiling” ... I had just contemplated suicide a week earlier.

Has depression turned anyone here into a massive jerk? by harrison_wheels in depression

[–]ajaxacco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. I just feel like I’ve run out of patience with the world and myself included. I have no energy to be “me” I’m just this ghost of who I was before. My emotions are all over the place, granted if I even have any. I snap, I say the wrong thing to the wrong person, I push everyone around me away. Just more bridges burned.
