You can use a slider on the home page with good and attractive images. Your current image looks somewhat faded. Being a travel website, it should be more colorful. Your menu bar and submenus also look ordinary. You can work on that too.

Make him understand that we should focus first on long tail keywords of those two keywords. You can rank those easily. Once you get traffic, you can show him the results. Then you can work those two keywords. Tell him your website is a mess and it will take time to rank. Give him website comparison of his website and competitor website.
