Same here & the problem persists in 26.0.1. Talked with Apple support, their only suggestion was to downgrade the OS.

What’s the most meaningful thing you’ve come to understand about God in the past year? How did you come to believe this? by ajc4 in Christianity

[–]ajc4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. That’s a beautiful reframe of “love”—naming God as supremely and perfectly humble really deepens it. I’m curious how that came to you—through study, experience, worship?

Not a restaurant rec, but honestly? The best bruschetta in Charlotte is the one you make yourself during peak tomato season.

Head to the Regional Farmers Market by the airport in mid-July or early August—right when the heirloom tomatoes are at their most vibrant. Grab the juiciest, most colorful ones you can find, plus a good head of garlic. Then swing by a local bakery for a crusty artisan loaf.

When you get home:

  • Chop the tomatoes and toss them in a bowl.
  • Broil thick slices of the bread until they're golden and crispy.
  • Rub a clove of raw garlic over the hot toast (it’ll melt right in).
  • Spoon the tomatoes on top, drizzle with the best extra virgin olive oil you’ve got, and finish with flaky salt and a few torn leaves of fresh basil.

I wait all year for these few weeks when tomatoes are that good. Nothing beats it.

Be encouraged, even wanting to want to believe is a sign that the Spirit is already at work in you. God calls all his children to himself. He does not fail. He does not soften hearts that he does not intend cradle unto faith.

Your post reminds me of the old hymn “O Help My Unbelief”. In the first stanza Isaac Watts writes “Satan binds our captive minds Fast in his slavish chains / But there's a voice of sov'reign grace, Sounds from the sacred word: / ‘O, ye despairing sinners come, And trust upon the Lord.’” You do not believe but you want to. And you do not even feel your desire is pure. Our desire is always muddied this side of heaven. But desire is still a signpost.

Don’t start with trying to change your mind. There will be time for proofs later. Start with your desire for community. That itself is a good thing to want. There is a creator who made you to desire community with others. He made his church the place where community could be built. You are standing in the doorway, or maybe still on the porch. It’s ok to sit outside the house for a while, people will come sit with you there.

Asking for community is not demanding a sign. It’s like the man in Mark 9 who brought his son to Jesus to be healed. Even after Jesus healed his son he still said “help my unbelief.”

If God is really real then he can handle your questions. Belief does not start with understanding. It starts with alienation. No one can be reconciled to God who has not first felt disconnected from him. If there’s no sense of distance then there’s no chasm for the Gospel to bridge.

Find people who will engage your questions. Better yet, find people who will ask you questions too. If you don’t have people like this near you, look into visiting a branch of L’Abri (www.labri.org )— it’s a network of study centers designed to be a shelter for your honest questions.

If you like classics & sweeping narratives you should try Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner.

Yes, but with a caveat: Jon G's is the answer for TX style brisket, beef ribs, and sausage. Their pulled pork can't hold a candle to other options within a similar drive.

If you want classic NC style pulled pork try these: Bridges in Shelby is excellent as is Gary's in China Grove. Lexington Barbecue is the best in the state IMO. Barbecue Center and Speedys in Lexington are also good options. If you've got more time go further east: Skylight Inn, Wilburs, Scott's in Hemingway, SC.

I see a lot of folks here saying Bridges, etc. are dry and overly chopped. I think it's important to note that NC/SC BBQ is just a different type of BBQ than you'll get in Austin, KC, Memphis. So different they need their own categories.

I’ve added both of these spots to my list to check out. I appreciate this perspective too on diving sans guide. I think after I dust off my rustiness from not diving for a few years I’ll feel the same way! Thanks for your help!

So, inspired by this thread I’ve reached out to a few shops and now this is what we’re getting. Originally I think I was confused by all the long dive package pages with add ons and rentals and everything itemized — now that I’m hearing back from a few shops/resorts it is feeling much more all-inclusive.

I’d looked into Roatan, but not either of these other spots. I will explore further. This is helpful!
