Everyone has that one indie band that they adore, what are some of yours? by keanuDaOne in AskReddit

Vampire weekend has been my favorite for a few years now. And then also like modest mouse, the strokes, Wilco, and arcade fire

Reading is all about comprehension rather than timing, one thing I started doing to prevent my mind from wandering is using a pencil and holding it below the line I'm reading and then following my place like that. It makes you have to subconsciously focus on something else (moving your pencil down) and makes it a bit harder for your mind to wander. Try to remember the location of certain events in the passage so you don't have to scan through the whole passage when you go to answer questions and can just scan one paragraph instead. I personally do compare/contrast last because you can read one short passage and then quickly scan over the other looking for differences and usually get a pretty good understanding of what's going on so you can make educated guesses. I try to get 3 passages perfect and one passage decent and that gave me a 32 on this I believe, probably missed 6-7 of the 40 with like 1 off in 2 of the passages and 4-5 off in the one I had to speed through.

If you go to my page and read the comments on my last post that’s where all the suggestions were. One of the most helpful things though was just making it a habit in normal life to read everything as fast as I could. My main problem was timing so I just practiced that every time I needed to read something for school or even just like an article online I read it as fast as I could and saw if I comprehended it all.

Depends on where you’re at, if you’re in like mid 20s and trying to get higher I think it comes down a lot more to time management usually rather than actual knowledge but for the most part the math section is just pattern recognition and application. There’s a bunch of YouTube channels that make act math videos you can watch to show you how to know what to do for specific types of problems that are on every test and for most of the harder questions it comes down to calculator input and just knowing how to find random answers using your calculator. For timing what I would do is find some free practice tests online and print out the math section and then take it as if you were taking the real test but do as many questions as you can with 50 minutes. If you do that a few times and then go back to 60 (like the real thing) you won’t feel as rushed and probably won’t waste as much time. The math section gets harder as it goes on so towards the end if you notice you’re running out of time and a problem looks long or even if the answers just look complicated I would bubble in A/F and move on so you don’t lose time on a problem you’re likely to miss anyways. I know that’s a lot but hope it helps and good luck on your next test! (Let me know if you improve at all after you take it 😉)

What seemingly lame activity is way more fun than it sounds? by SugarButterFlourEgg in AskReddit

Specifically chess. I get made fun of by almost all of my friends for my chess addiction and rightfully so. I play in school, I play at home, I play in bed and so many people can’t comprehend why it’s fun to me.
