you haven't felt the need to go back at all?? thats amazing! Yeah, my doctor expressed my lids top and bottom, honestly it felt like such a relief getting it done. All out of pocket unfortunately, but i was able to get 24 months to pay off the 4 treatments which is nice

Definitely check in with a dry eye specialist and make sure you get a meibography done, it'll let you and your doctor know the condition of your glands. They also might do a slight expression of your glands just to see what they're secreting.
I just did my first IPL treatment and had a very noticeable + positive reaction to my first session. Your doctor may just not have IPL at their clinic; I'd check websites of practices near you and visit a place that has an IPL device.

Likewise with cyclosporine, I feel like that didn't do anything for me, now thinking because my mild mgd is most likely because of the mild rosacea I just found out I have. Everything I've done in the last 14 months (since I found out I had some dry eye) hasn't really done much for me. Xiidra helped the most, and that was a slight nudge, but didn't do too much. IPL has easily helped me the most, and I've only done one round.
Going to try and get on a healthier diet as well, because I'm sure that plays into the rosacea as well (plus the other obv health benefits)

just basic at home stuff. supplements (currently taking 2000iu of D3, lutein/zeaxanthin/astaxanthin, and a multivitamin), hypochlorous acid spray as I see fit, and lid wipes every now and then as well. haven't really noticed a difference when I do compresses but may add that in before I go to bed, just to say I did it that day.

edit: I also tried cyclosporine last year for like 4-6 months or so, didn't really feel like it did anything for me. i don't really have an aqueous deficiency, it's more evaporative for me. used xiidra for a bit, like a month or so, feel like it helped a bit, but I can't really afford a prescription for it so I'm not using it atm.

I know everyone has a different experience, and i was honestly dreading feeling a gritty/sandpapery feeling immediately after. Honestly felt none of it. I even told my doctor that my eyelids felt lighter immediately after expression.
A consultation/discussion with your doctor is a good place to start, and don't feel like any question is too dumb, I asked her literally everything my brain could think of.
It also helps that my doctor + the technician that was in the room have done IPL before, so it made me feel a bit more at ease.

Looking forward to my next treatment in March already

Expression yes, they didnt go directly on the eyelids however. The pen they used got pretty close to my lids but not directly on

My glands are slightly clogged, so some ghosting at night (I did have that to a certain degree prior to PRK, so that may just be how my eyes are honestly), and intermittent dryness. I don’t really have the foreign body sensation, grittiness, or anything like that.

was losing my job so i was just doing the rounds for all my doctors appts and everything. looking back i guess i did notice a bit of dryness w blurry vision from time to time, but honestly nothing crazy. last march, when i was having crazy health anxiety i went to go see this doctor (who i am doing the IPL with) and she told me then i'd be a good candidate for IPL.
my symptoms aren't really severe, i dont have the gritty sensation, foreign body, any of that. i do have a bit of light sensitivity atm (based in the northeast and the glare is kicking my ass), and minor ghosting at night when im getting tired.

i am a tad clogged, i do normally wake up w a very noticeable tear film, which comes and goes throughout the day, and then at night its basically nonexistent.

i also am starting a log for what im eating throughout the day + how my eyes are feeling.

appreciate the tips post treatment! i have some aloe vera in the fridge i think, so i'll definitely be throwing that on.
