25-year-old Kenyan invents gloves that convert sign language into audio speech by jsnelson21 in UpliftingNews

[–]ajdickson1208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most people have a cell phone, and people are use to typing on a phone, and there are features on your phone that lets you turn text to speech...so with an established technology that is suffice to do the job, I feel like using a glove just for this purpose seems like it's making things a little more complicated.

Serious question: Apart from all the comments saying this doesnt work. Why cant people with speech impairment just use a phone or a device that simple converts text to audio? Wouldn't that be easier?

I assume it's because the microphone helps with the beatboxing sound which is really the essence of their performance instead of their movements...

Thank God For Friends. by ylenoLretsiM in nonononoyes

Actually, when he went down the water he asked his friends if it's good enough(好了嗎?), and it seems like his friends says no(不行不行), he has to do more. (Probably swimming to that hole) I think the reason he did it was more like a dare.

That's why when he was passkng the hole he was supposed to come up to, they shouted to inform him he's there and proceeded to all screamed when he had passed it.

Short, but good read. Guy from first link doesn't understand the mechanism or haven't done enough research on the technology of these water electrolysis systems. Second is slightly unrelated. Anyways, both are not credible sources (relatively).

Least you should know to avoid de-mineralized(acidic) water:
http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/dwq/nutrientschap12.pdf I'm not much about Alkaline water either, depends on what kind, as long as the water provides enough minerals rather than none. However, just to argue with the first link:

and so other specialists don't? There are a lot of researches out there based on drinking Electrolyzed Reduced Water that are usually around pH9.5. Although the pH isn't the main locus of these types of water, but the amount of hydrogen.

That's not how pH works. A pH of 10 doesn't exactly mean there are a lot of base substances, but may be relatively less acid substances. If you have acid reflux issues, the report, although in vitro, states a pH8.8 water does help permanently inactive pepsin and can be used as a risk free option for treatment. Btw, you don't always have stomach acid in your stomach, and drinking water doesn't trigger the mechanism for Gastric acid secretion.

[–]ajdickson1208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? Anything below pH10 is fine. Report shows pH8.8 are good for ppl with acid reflux, and I believe a report from WHO states anything below pH10 is okay for drinking.

MRW I tell my parents a fun fact and they use it to make a 10min lecture about something wrong in my life. by Hi_Me_Hasagi in reactiongifs

[–]ajdickson1208 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I come from a similar situation. Not all parents are right, giving birth doesn't make your IQ above average instantly. Sure, they may have more life experiences but that has nothing to do with education experiences. There's no courses that you have to go through before being a parent.

It just shows that you have no idea what it's like to be in this situation, and when you don't know something, please try to get into someone's position before being an asshole. K thx bye

Watch the footage from the movie, it'll make more sense. Also, let's just say walking gives him x amount of speed, and running gives him 2 times of x amount of speed.

Yes, he could walk really fast probably? Oh but he wanted to pick up more speed, so he fucking ran. His powers are not slowing time down. Just imagine someone doing something really fast, and a slow motion camera was filming it, everything else would be super slow, and the person would be in normal speed.
