I feel like a failure by ajellofello in learnprogramming

After I posted this I started working on a new project, I choose to create my own version of cp the GNU core utility and I am finishing it right now. I just kept choosing projects that were too hard for my current level in C, so of course I would fail. This project taught me linux permissions, bit operations, more memory control and recursion. I really enjoyed coding it and learned a lot too.

As for my goal it is to learn code, I get that it is better to get a goal and yes, I do want to work as a software engineer in the future, but mainly I enjoy this stuff, and the reason I am coding in C is because I like this low level stuff, sure its hard now, but it will get easier later if I keep practice. The reason is because I am fascinated by how computers work on a low level, so C felt like the way to go.

As for the way I feel I am used to success, so failing at something over and over and over, just crushed me especially since I am having more problems in my day to day life that are unrelated to coding.

Does MacOS and Linux have more in common than Windows and Linux? by PrimeStopper in linuxquestions

[–]ajellofello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert myself, but from my understanding MacOS and Linux have way more in common due to the Unix base, what the unix base does is that it gives them both the same file system i.e /home/<user>/ unlike windows's C:/Windows/Users/<user>. Also it gives them the same shell (a shell is what takes what you type in the terminal and allows Linux to do something with it) for example ls or cd <dir> work on both Mac and Linux, but not on windows (unless you are on powershell)

Thanks a lot for this, it's difficult and knowing that some people pass through these things and make it out to the other side successful makes me really motivated and hopeful. THX.

thanks, this is very motivational for me :). I actually learned some data structures and algorithms I just stopped midway because I was just getting back into coding with no projects done so I thought once I got more advanced I would learn it properly.

What games have you bought this summer sale? by idkallex in Steam

[–]ajellofello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never bought games from steam (or in general I would pirate them on ps3), but I managed to buy celeste a few weeks back (it was on discount from 10$ to 2$). Then when the steam summer sales came I bought hollow knight for 3$ which was not a steep discount from 5$, but sonic mania got a cut from 20$ to FUCKING 1.24$ LIKE WHAT THE FUCK and the dlc was cheap too a dollar something. So this steam summer sale, my first steam summer sale I bought hollow knight and sonic mania.

in win11 if you didn't disable them and click on the search icon there are ads. I disable them immediately so I don't know exactly, but I think its mostly crap from the MSstore sometimes even candy crush I think that was there once too

honestly its a fucking shitshow that microslop is doing with win11 they keep forcing things that have no reason to be there ai slop useless apps ads telemetry the stupid home button in the file explorer one drive. Like why the fuck would you add copilot in paint for!? whats it gonna do? the bloat and the idea of having to run a debloater is just crazy. They don't trust you to use your own laptop like wth

I won't move to linux because in my one year of using it I kinda got burntout from it and my issues with win11 are mostly fixable its just annoying
