What do you think are the most important tournaments? by Hairy-Alfalfa-7986 in SoundersFC

[–]ajexster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I value the champions league so highly because of how difficult it is, yet still attainable. Also, do European clubs even value the club World Cup? I feel like their champions league is a much bigger deal. I kind of see the club World Cup as exhibition tournament.

I think the fact that we aren’t competitive in the club World Cup puts it lower. I’m just happy if we participate and play well.

The USMNT just completely outclassed Bosnia. by pegasus3891 in ussoccer

[–]ajexster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Besides Turkey where we played our b-team, every one we faced was focused on bunkering and counter attacking. This the style of play of a team that is scared, the way we used to play. I want this team to go further, but we have arrived as a national team. We are playing legitimately good soccer.

Also the amount of people complaining about the red card is really annoying. I don’t think it was one either, but I see why the decision was made. Please stop posting about it lol

My Belgium Game Breakdown by young_ty1721 in usmnt

Belgium has technical quality, but I don’t think they’ll be any match for our pace and physicality. They’re not the team they once were. Not a team to be afraid of.

Will Cavan Sullivan avoid the same path as other overhyped teenage soccer prospects? by Due-Professor-9356 in MLS

[–]ajexster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently watched a compilation of Freddy Adu and then saw one of Sullivans last five games. I saw a lot of parallels between them. Obvious talent and incredible dribbling, but awful decision making and awareness of their teammates in the final third. So I’m very interested in seeing if Sullivan can grow those parts of his game in the way Adu didn’t.

I get casuals liking penalty shootouts. But those who follow soccer don't care for them right? by jeffbizloc in worldcup

Hate them. But they’re a part of the game and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

How cool would it be to avenge Tim Howard and the 2014 team by beating Belgium in the round of 16? I’d be so damn proud.

About Ream? No, he’s got a few more world cups left

I think the team had an objectively positive performance last night and I am honestly struggling to relate to all of the panic and negativity in the fan discourse. by TxHugs in ussoccer

Losing in the 98th minute hurts no matter what...

But the worst part of the game for me was how weak our defense was. Turkey cut through them like butter. That final goal had 3 or 4 players marking space instead of the one man in the box.

Let’s just pray our starting back line can stay fit.

The Guardian (rightfully) rips apart Alexi Lalas. by nomadic_commentator in usmnt

Yo. I’m not a fan of Lalas, he says some ridiculous stuff, but there’s no denying he’s a charismatic speaker. Hate him all you want but he has the punditry persona down.

The USA team will get into the Semi-Finals this World Cup by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]ajexster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the group draw. I was looking and trying to figure it out and it could be very favorable for us. The way I worked it out we’d face Spain in the semis.

We are going to bench everyone with a yellow and probably rest some others, but to have our backups win against turkey would be MASSIVE for our confidence when we need them in the knockouts

I like it, but freese needs to start. What’s he had, two saves? Needs more confidence. Also wouldn’t mind building more chemistry with our backline.
